LIE, CHEAT, GENUFLECT Takes to the Stage at Carrollwood Players

By: Dec. 01, 2016

Carrollwood Players Theatre opens the new year on January 6 with the comedy LIE, CHEAT, AND GENUFLECT by Billy Van Zandt & Jane Milmore. Loaded with sight gags and puns, LIE, CHEAT AND GENUFLECT tells the tale of two brothers, Billy and Tom, part of the black sheep side of the family, who are convinced they've been left out of their millionaire Grandpa Buckle's will.

Because Tom has an eye for horses at the track - unfortunately, slow horses - he's drained his brother's life savings and owes a loan shark Pizza Face Petrillo lots of money.

Director Leanne Germann said, "This is one of the funniest shows that I have ever directed."

Featuring a stellar cast of Bo Smith, Dan Allmond, Alicia Spiegel, Penni Willen, Kenneth Grace, Lisa Morrison, Adriane Falcon, and Michael Jeffery, in this madcap, raucous farce, full of twists, turns, and pratfalls, the brothers will do anything to get their hands on their deceased Grandpa's money. This might even mean Billy must don a habit and pretend to be the cousin no one has seen in 20 years, who is supposed to inherit the estate.

Kenneth said, "You positively absolutely have to come see Bo speak in falsetto while wearing a nun outfit. That is worth the price of admission right there!"

"This script is literally laugh out loud funny...not just the script though, the physical antics that go on is going to be so much fun for an audience to take in," added Alicia.

Mix in a shady lawyer, a man-obsessed housekeeper, and a trio of beautiful women, and hilarity ensues. LIE, CHEAT, AND GENUFLECT is truly a fast-paced, knee-slapping, comedy goldmine.

"I'm not even sure how the cast keeps it together for the whole show," said stage manager Joia Holbrook. "It's so funny!

Carrollwood Players is located at 4333 Gunn Hwy. LIE, CHEAT, AND GENUFLECT runs from January 6 through 28 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm.
