As one season draws to an end, another phenomenal one must begin! The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is elated to announce its 2016-2017 Broadway, Dance and Classical series.

"So many people begged me to book Kinky Boots so I am thrilled that we have a week of the Broadway smash hit. I love the new version of Pippin, and the romance of Once, Dirty Dancing and Cinderella, not to mention all my other favorite shows that are coming!" exclaims Mary Bensel, Executive Director of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

Headlining our Broadway series with eight performances is the six-time Tony Award winner including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography Kinky Boots with songs by Grammy - and Tony - winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper. This Sarasota premiere with its huge heart and high heels will have you feeling good from head to shiny toe April 25-30, 2017, (Tue-Sat at 8PM, Sat & Sun 2PM, Sun 7PM.)

With ten dazzling Broadway shows and two sensational Broadway Specials it truly is a season for everyone! Kicking off the Broadway series is Fame-The Musical, December 7, 2016, at 7PM, followed by Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, December 27 & 28, 2016, at 7PM; Dirty Dancing-The Classic Story on Stage, January 10 & 11, 2017, (Tue 8PM, Wed 2PM & 8PM); Riverdance-The 20th Anniversary World Tour, January 24-26, 2017, at 8PM; Pippin, February 17 & 18 at 8PM; Annie, March 15, 2017, at 7PM; Once, March 17, 2017, at 8PM; Chicago, March 25 & 26, 2017 (Sat 8PM, Sun 2PM & 7PM,) with Broadway specials 42nd Street December 30, 2016, at 8PM; and 108 Years of Broadway, February 14, 2017 at 8PM.

The classical series rings in the New Year with style and sophistication with Salute to Vienna New Year's Concert, January 3, 2017 at 7PM, followed by Zoltan Maga: From Budapest with Love, January 18, 2017, at 8PM; Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra with A British Invasion: The Boston Pops Plays The Beatles, February 2, 2017, at 8PM; Itzhak Perlman, February 7, 2017, at 8PM; The Philadelphia Orchestra, February 9, 2017, at 8PM; Lang Lang, February 23, 2017, at 8PM. Rounding out the series is Orchestre National De Lyon conducted by internationally-acclaimed Leonard Slatkin, March 1, 2017, at 8PM.
