Creative Loafing's fourth annual Gasp!-also known as the Gasparilla Fringe Festival-brings a smorgasbord of live theater, dance, comedy, performance art, music, and more to Tampa Museum of Art (120 Gasparilla Plaza in Tampa) on March 31st, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Inspired by the free-wheeling Fringe Festival tradition popular around the world-from Edinburgh to Orlando-Gasp! was created in 2014 in collaboration between Creative Loafing and Tampa Museum of Art. A complement to the springtime mix of Gasparilla festivals in and around Curtis Hixon Park, it's the only one that focuses primarily on the performing arts-from theater, dance, and spoken word to improv, comedy, carnival, and more-as well as the hybrids that bring these genres together with music, film, and visual art.

Creative Loafing is currently hosting an open call for local artists and performers from a variety of disciplines through Tuesday, February 7th, 2017. Artists and performers interested in learning more about this opportunity should visit gasptampa.com.

Tickets to Gasp!: The Gasparilla Fringe Festival 2017 sponsored by Tampa International Airport include free admission to the Tampa Museum of Art exhibitions, Alex Katz: Black and White-featuring signature portraits of family and friends, renderings of Maine's countryside, and ephemeral still lifes-and Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present-approximately 230 works (from daguerreotypes and salted paper prints to digital images) that capture the universal appeal of sports, highlighting unforgettable moments of drama and excitement from around the globe.

Tickets to Gasp!: The Gasparilla Fringe Festival 2017 will be on sale on Thursday, January 12th.

About the Tampa Museum of Art
The Tampa Museum of Art opened its award-winning home in 2010 with a commitment to providing innovative public programs with a strong focus on classical, modern, and contemporary art. The Museum balances a growing collection, including one of the largest holdings of Greek and Roman antiquities in the southeastern U.S., with a dynamic annual schedule of special exhibitions. It is the region's largest museum devoted to the art of our time and has built a reputation for embracing contemporary photography and new media. Leo Villareal's Sky (Tampa), the Museum's 14,000-square-foot LED installation on its façade, has become an iconic image for Tampa and the Riverwalk. Since its founding in 1979, the Museum has been dedicated to providing quality education to students and adults, with more than half of its programs offered free of charge. The Museum is home to Sono Café, a "Slow Food Movement" café overlooking Curtis Hixon Park and the Hillsborough River, and has emerged as Tampa's premiere venue for special events.
