Darryl Rouson Joins the Cast of LANGSTON HUGHES' BLACK NATIVITY

Rep. Darryl Rouson has joined the cast of Langston Hughes' BLACK NATIVITY: A GOSPEL SONG-PLAY as the Preacher. The Studio@620 and the Palladium at St. Petersburg College will produce Rouson and ShaRon Scott in the epic musical at the Palladium at St. Petersburg College, Nov. 25 thru 27.

BLACK NATIVITY is the joyous account of the seminal event that occurred over 2,000 years ago on one silent night in Bethlehem. It;s a celebration that tells the original story of the Nativity in scripture, verse, music and dance. Combining the Gospel of St. Luke with the poetry of Langston Hughes, this song-play touches a special chord in the hearts of all during the holidays.

Rep. Darryl Rouson is a St. Petersburg, Florida, lawyer, political activist, and Democratic politician who serves as the Florida House representative for District 55. He is a former president of the St. Petersburg NAACP and former chair of the National Bar Association's Substance Abuse and Addictions Task Force. He was Pinellas County's first African-American assistant state attorney. He is married to Angela H. Rouson and has eight children.

"We are very excited to have Rep. Rouson join the cast of BLACK NATIVITY," said Bob Devin Jones, the production's director. "He is an exceedingly talented performer and we are grateful to him for giving his time to this great event."

Performances are Friday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Palladium Theater Box Office, which is open from noon until 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or at the Studio@620, which is located at 620 1st Ave. South in St. Petersburg and open from noon until 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
