American Stage Theatre Company continues its "After Hours" series with Heather Jones' comedic drama, THE WAITRESS PLAY, Mar. 13 and 14. Ticket prices to all performances are "Pay-What-You-Can" at the door and $20 in advance.

THE WAITRESS PLAY follows a waitress, played Roxanne Fay, on the day she might disappear. As she contends with the attitudes and assumptions of her customers, the waitress must decide whether to continue to struggle for visibility or to allow herself to fade away. Join the Blue Scarf Collective for the area premiere of this poignant and humorous piece.

The Blue Scarf Collective is composed of local theatre artists Roxanne Fay, Aleshea Harris and Heather Jones. Their aim is to facilitate excellence in playwriting through development and production of their own theatrical works and to nurture the talents of local theatre artists while insisting upon diversity and reciprocal enrichment for both audiences and stage artists.

Heather Jones has had work produced by American Theatre of Actors in New York and by Green Light Theatrical Productions in Philadelphia, PA, where her play, LAST RITES, was one of six selections for the first presentation of GLO, their annual festival of one-acts by women. Green Light also presented LAST RITES at a women's festival for Haverford College. BLACK SWAN Theatre in Asheville, NC presented a staged reading of her play, THE WAITRESS PLAY, in 2008. In 2009 she received a Regional Artists Project Grant from the Asheville Area Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council to develop her play EVERY CREATURE'S SHADOW through a script-in-hand production. Jones has directed her own work at the BeBe Theatre in Asheville, NC and at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She has also acted as dramaturg for Immediate Theatre Project in Asheville. Heather holds an MFA in Writing with a concentration in Playwriting from Spalding University, where she was mentored by Sheila Callaghan, Eric Schmiedl and Charles Schulman. Heather lives in St. Petersburg, FL, and teaches in the first year writing program at the University of Tampa.
