Controversial internet personality Tyranno Frei has been invited to talk at a university. As the commencement of his lecture looms, crowds of students begin protesting outside the auditorium. One of his old professors, Professor Dio, is worried that the crowd may start a riot. Will the mob be satisfied if Gratia, the students' combustible representative, is allowed to debate Tyranno? Tyranno is a music-drama about Western Art, Free Speech, offensive language and power.
Has art been politicised? Is the Western Canon still valid? Do ideologies make people vile? Tyranno explores these questions and the clashing perspectives of modern society.
Denver Naude stars as the eponymous antihero, with Myles Burgin as Professor Dio, and Bec Power as Gratia. Richard Holborn and Rhiarn Zarzhavsky play Tyranno's mischievous sidekicks. Zoe Crawford, Ella Arendelle, Ricci Crane and Samuel Feitelberg play the professors and students.
Dark, topical, Wagnerian, humorous and brutal, Tyranno was written, produced and directed by Ludwig van Distortion and Coco Grainger (Distortion Forever).
