Th' Unguarded Duncan and Theatre Works present a gritty, darkly funny adaptation of William Shakespeare and Thomas Middleton's rarely performed tragedy, transporting the story into the world of an exclusive commercial restaurant. Timon is a wealthy philanthropist whose fair-weather friends abandon him when his fortune runs dry, turning his riches-to-rags fall into a ferocious anti-capitalist satire. Directed by Kevin Hopkins and Claire Nicholls, the production stars Jovanna Hepburn alongside James Cerche, Nick Crawford-Smith, Anthea Davis, Tegan Harrod, Helen Hopkins, Scott Jackson, Ashlynn Parigi, Tony Rive, Henry Vo and Seon Williams. The 90-minute production is a collaboration with Prague Shakespeare Company, blending physical ensemble movement with Kafkaesque psychological menace.
