Student Blog: Final Semester: Back to School One More Time

Hey friends! As January comes to a close, I wanted to talk about what my semester looks like and what classes and all I am involved in! It’s my last semester here and you better believe I filled it to the brim! So let’s dive in!

I’m taking a lot of really cool classes this semester. I really enjoy it. I’m in two dance classes. One of them is Broadway Dance 3 where we get to learn how to combine singing and dancing while also putting your specific character into the dance as well. I found this class super beneficial when I took it last year, and I’m excited to take it again and learn more songs and material! I am also in Tap 2. I love tap. It is my favorite form of dance. It makes the most sense to me, the patterns, the counts, it all just seems like one big brain puzzle and I love it.

I’m also in a playwriting class and I’m so excited for this one! I’ve never taken a playwriting class before, so I’m excited to learn some structure and have some more guidance so I can write my plays in the future. I am also in musical theatre performance two. In this class, it combines singing and acting. We get to be coached on different songs, and scenes that then turn into songs and learn how to navigate songs within the context of a musical. I’m excited to get to work on this more this semester.

I’m also in a few online classes. One of them is the Cinema of Spike Lee, and we are going through Spike Lee’s greatest films and analyzing them and breaking them down. It’s been really interesting so far. I’m also in an online astronomy lab and we get to look at the stars and track the moon and other things like that. Finally I’m also in voice lessons and I really like the songs I’m singing and such.

I’m also in a show this season. I am in the world premiere of Girlhood by Ida Esmaeli. I’m the understudy for Katie and their rehearsal process has been really great so far and I’ve really enjoyed getting to be a part of it, especially since it is a new play that is still developing, but I’ll get into that a bit more later. One of my plays, Little Things, is also about to premiere next week at Player’s Theatre as a part of their LUV Fest and I cannot wait. Another one of my plays is also going to premiere on a night of completely student-produced one-acts here at my school. I am also the president of Alpha Psi Omega and am loving it. I love this organization and I’m so proud to be a part of it.

That’s my final semester! I am so blessed and privileged to get to do all that I do and I’m excited to see what the semester brings! As always, go do great things :)
