SBCT to Present THE OTHER PLACE, 5/13-22

By: Apr. 28, 2016
On Friday, May 13th, South Bend Civic Theatre opens an eight-performance run for Sharr White's The Other Place in the Warner Theatre. Director Aaron Nichols returns to the studio theater space at SBCT where he last directed Take Me Out to direct what he describes as "a mystery about memory, and loss...and memory loss."

The Other Place allows us to follow Juliana Smithton, as her research leads to a potential breakthrough, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a lecture to colleagues at an exclusive beach resort, she glimpses an enigmatic young woman in a yellow bikini amidst the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unravels as contradictory evidence, blurred truth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod.

Melissa Manier leads the cast of four as Juliana. Opposite Juliana is Ian, played by Roy Bronkema, the Assistant Director for Immigration Services at Notre Dame. Completing Nichols' cast are Michael Clarkson and Courtney Qualls. Clarkson, who is a Numismatic Sales Associate in Roseland plays The Man, and Qualls, a Theatre teacher at Penn High School, plays The Woman.
