The Masque Theatre will host Jungle Theatre's THE MAGIC SHELL, a folktale about how stories began at its popular Muizenberg community theatre venue this December. Based on an African folktale and set in ancient times on the Wild Coast, THE MAGIC SHELL starts at a time before people had any stories to tell. A husband and his wife have many children but no stories to tell them. She decides to go on a journey to find stories leaving him to look after the home and the children. On her adventure, she learns from various comical wild animals and is challenged to be brave and determined and to find stories in surprising places. The story comes to life in English and isiXhosa, with original songs and innovative masks.
