Moffie at Adam Small Auditorium, Stellenbosch

Based on the novel by André Carl van der Merwe, this one-man show follows seventeen-year-old Nicholas van der Swart, conscripted into the South African Defence Force in 1979 apartheid South Africa. Facing brute masculinity, racism, and the dread of being labelled a 'moffie', the production explores toxic masculinity and trauma and the lasting scars of the past. Directed by Greg Karvellas and written by Philip Rademeyer, the production stars David Viviers as Nicholas. It follows a five-star London premiere and a critically acclaimed South African debut at the Baxter Theatre in September 2025.
