Since releasing her first acoustic album hug in 2016 and her debut vinyl Muretachi in 2017, she has garnered fans across Japan and Asia with her astonishing vocal range and lower register, all delivered in her signature velvet-smooth tone. Ayano’s deeply personal songwriting is complemented by rich musical arrangements, crossing genres of alternative rock, folk and indie pop. As her following grew, so did the scale of her shows—in 2021, she sold out her show at Nippon Budokan, a milestone she revisited with a triumphant two-day return in 2023.

In 2024, she returned with her newly solidified band, kanekoayano, whose recent performance at Fuji Rock 2025 left audiences in awe, with many calling it a standout set at the festival.
