Taking inspiration from a book of the same name by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, The Fold is an extension of Tim O’Dwyer’s research in bringing Deleuze’s ideas to life through music.
A quixotic collaborative project involving the coming together of musicians to create new works arranged by Tim (saxes / clarinets), it features some of the most innovative music makers in our local scene, Aya Sekine (piano), Darren Moore (drums), Tony Makarome (bass), and Vuk Krakovic (violin). And while they share a background in jazz, this collaboration sees them pushing the boundaries across music styles.
Set against a visual backdrop by artist Damien Lock, The Fold is not only a multilayered, textured and fluid performance, but one which also invites broad influences and approaches to co-exist into a sensuous unity of sound.
