PlayMakers Repertory Company proudly presents "Bewilderness," a PlayMakers commission and the second production in its 2018/19 PRC2 Kenan Stage series. Written and directed by Zack Fine, "Bewilderness" invites us into the upside-down, creatively chaotic world of a playwright inspired by and obsessed with the great American philosopher, Henry David Thoreau. In this madcap comedy, the famous cabin on Walden Pond plays host not only to Thoreau, but also to his brother, his mother, Ralph Waldo Emerson, some singing doctors, and a wisecracking woodchuck.

When it comes to famous literary figures there are many iconic names that come to mind, from Shakespeare to Moliere and from Beckett to Dickens, but one of the most influential must be Miguel de Cervantes, author of the iconic Don Quixote. His work has inspired countless others over the centuries and his classic story attracts new fans each passing year, despite the four centuries that have passed since its completion.

Westport Country Playhouse's world-premiere drama, "Thousand Pines," brings the national dialogue about gun violence to the stage, October 30 through November 17. Written by Matthew Greene, and directed by Austin Pendleton, the new play was part of the Playhouse's 2017 New Works Circle Initiative, a program dedicated to the discovery, development, and production of new live theatrical works.

California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) announced further details today for the Shakespearean centerpiece to the 2018 Epic Season, The War of the Roses. The War of the Roses is a monumental evening of theater spanning four history plays-the Henry VI trilogy and Richard III. Presented as an action-packed evening, The War of the Roses will deliver a fast-paced, far-ranging, vividly theatrical depiction of two powerful families-the Lancasters and the Yorks-and their decades-long fight for the English throne. Political unrest and power grabs collide with weak leadership and civil strife as the country fights against the threat of tyranny.

Manhattan Repertory Theatre will showcase two new one-act plays 'No Turning Back' by Richard Thomas Henle and 'Evening With Stephen Crane' by Phil Paradis. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey continues its 56th season with its third Main Stage production, Blithe Spirit. Veteran company member Victoria Mack, who was last seen on the Main Stage in this season's Tartuffe, will make her STNJ directing debut. Company favorites Brent Harris, Tina Stafford, Ames Adamson, and Susan Maris will be joined by Kate MacCluggage of The 39 Steps fame in this delightful British comedy by Noel Coward. La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its west coast premiere production of QUEENS, by Martyna Majok, winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play Cost of Living. Directed by Carey Perloff(Playhouse's The Orphan of Zhao), the show runs July 3 - 29 in the Playhouse's Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey begins its 56th season with its first Main Stage production, Tartuffe. Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte will direct this masterful French comedy that hasn't been seen on STNJ's stage since 2001. Renowned translator Richard Wilburbrings Moliere's witty words to brilliant life for English-speaking audiences. Veteran company member Brent Harris will play the title role and will be joined by STNJ favorites Patrick Toon and Victoria Mack, as well as two-time Tony Award nominee, Vivian Reed. Performances begin May 16.

Acclaimed film and television actor Paul Anderson will play the title role in Tartuffe at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, alongside celebrated stage and screen stars Audrey Fleurot, George Blagden, Sebastian Roche and Olivia Ross. In the West End's first ever dual-language production, Moliere's classic comedy re-imagines Tartuffe as a radical American evangelist who uproots the life of a French film tycoon in Hollywood.

The Theatre Group at SBCC concludes the 17/18 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, CRIMES OF THE HEART by Beth Henley.
