Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat.

Review: SWEENEY TODD is a Bloody Good Time at Palm Canyon Theatre
by Charlie Thomas - Mar 13, 2024

What is it about a good horror story that draws audiences by the cart load?  Is it the adrenaline surge of danger around every corner, even as the viewer remains safely out of danger? Or is it the exploration of the dark side of man’s psyche, feeding a vicarious blood lust in the deep recesses of our primordial hind brains? Or, is it a bit of schadenfreude, particularly if the victim is “deserving”?  All of things await the anxious theatregoer in Palm Canyon’s Theatre’s latest venture, Steven’s Sondheim’s macabre masterpiece “Sweeney Todd”.

by Jerri Shafer - Mar 4, 2022

For its 64th annual production, Butterfly Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella will take place on March 4, 5 & 6, 2022 at the historic Palace Theatre located at 34 W. Broad St. This family-friendly, Broadway-quality production benefits the Hospice and Palliative Care Programs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the only programs of its kind in central Ohio. The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm, and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. BWW Interview: Director David Saint of WEST SIDE STORY in Tokyo, Japan
by Larisa Amaya-Baron - Nov 8, 2019

'I've had several Japanese people come up to me before and say, 'This is our story.' They were an older married couple, and I thought, 'Oh? This is a New York story, why do you say that?' And they said, 'Because, back in the late 50s early 60s, our villages were feuding, and they wouldn't allow us to marry. So there was this tension, but seeing the movie in 1961 made us say, 'Let's do it!' And we eloped.'

BWW Interview: Alanna Kalbfleisch Makes Theater Happen
by Jeanmarie Simpson - Mar 6, 2017

I don't think my goal is to be a performer, rather more of a person who makes theater happen. Whether that is being an actor, a designer, a director, a patron, a donor, a supporter, an observer, or the executive director of a theater company, that's completely up to fate, really. All I want is to be a part of the progression of this art.

BWW Review: Unsettling, Haunting SANS MERCI at none too fragile
by Roy Berko - Aug 8, 2016

When the lights went off to signal the ending of none too fragile's production of Johnna Adams' unsettling, haunting, thought-provoking Sans Merci, my immediate reaction was, 'Oh, please fellow audience members, don't clap!'

BWW Blog: Annalise Prentiss - SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL at Susquehanna Stage Co.
by Guest Blogger: Annalise Prentiss - May 10, 2016

"Oh, the thinks you can think when you think about...SEUSS!!" Dr. Seuss, as most of us know, was one of the most iconic children's book authors. From One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish,  Blue Fish to There's a Wocket in my Pocket, Dr. Seuss never did fail to amuse children. In 2000, Seussical the Musical debuted on Broadway. Written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the musical incorporates all the memory-making Dr. Seuss stories such as Horton Hears a Who, Gertrude McFuzz, The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and Oh, The Thinks You Can Think! Seussical the Musical was written to carry on the legacy of Dr. Seuss and to grant good times to anyone who sees it, and Susquehanna Stage Company located in Marietta, Pennsylvania, hopes to do just that.

BWW Blog: Sherz Aletaha of Off-Broadway's DISASTER! - Calm Down, Mother Nature!
by Guest Blogger: Sherz Aletaha - Feb 15, 2014

Oh look, another snow storm. Awesome. If someone could kindly give Mother Nature some Midol and a chocolate bar, I'd really appreciate it because her PMS is getting obnoxious. I started my day by looking up vacations in tropical locations since I'm about to pull my hair out. If you are rich and feel bad for me, please feel free to sponsor my trip to Miami or Puerto Rico. You can come too! I'll tell you sassy stories and sing you showtunes in exchange. Everybody wins.

BWW Blog: Sherz Aletaha of Off-Broadway's DISASTER! - Joan River's Worst Dressed List
by Guest Blogger: Sherz Aletaha - Jan 28, 2014

Last week was a pretty great one on the Barricuda. We survived another snow storm (Why, oh why, oh why-o? Why did I ever leave Southern California...) and luckily New York did not stand us up. We had a great audience who trekked out into the grossness to laugh at us. Even pianist and late night sidekick extraordinaire, Paul Shaffer, endured the Polar Vortex. Fun Fact! He played on the original track for Barry Manilow's 'Daybreak' which happens to be our closing number. Full circle.
