Playhouse on Park opens Season Nine Mainstage Series with musical comedy Avenue Q, music and lyrics by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez and book by Jeff Whitty. Avenue Q runs from September 13-October 8.

Last night, Monday August 21, the actress and singer Emily Ellet was mobbed by her many friends and admirers in the audience when it was announced that she had eeked out a photo-finish win in one of the most competitive MetroStar contests in years. Her outstanding mini-set, in which she delivered a dazzingly original interpretation of the '80s disco anthem 'It's Raining Men,' put her ahead of the other four MetroStar finalists, each of whom delivered nearly flawless performances. Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) is pleased to present Rwanda-born, France-based choreographer Dorothee Munyaneza in the New York premiere of her new work, Unwanted. The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's "Scare Pair," a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost -- together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues).  Both works, with the libretto and music by Mr. Getty, will be sung in English and have a running time of 60 minutes each.

Barbara Minkus is a dynamically talented singer/actress who commands the stage in I'm Not Famous, her latest and most complete autobiographical show. She just finished a sold-out run at the Santa Monica Playhouse where she got extended twice. I believe the show is slated to travel across country and on to New York. It definitely should, as this story is so well honed,  and has universal appeal and great meaning for anyone who has ever gotten stuck along the way to fulfilling one's dreams. A winner of the prestigious National Theatre Company Grant Award by the American Theatre Wing, Classical Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to announce the lineup for its 2017-2018 Mainstage Season. As the only professional theatre company in the State of Texas that solely produces classical drama on a year-round basis, CTC only produces plays that are 100 or more years old.

She really Succeeded in (show) Business and last night in addition to her other accolades, Michele Lee was presented with the Manhattan Association Of Cabaret & Clubs Lifetime Achievement Award. The Broadway Actress and film star, sing, dancer, producer, TV, and cabaret performer was introduced by her good friend Sarah Bernhard, who also noted that Michele is an activist for many social causes. Nobody still does or does it like Michele Lee (to paraphrase Cy Coleman) and she recently was seen on Broadway in WICKED. This summer Michele will be in the New York area when she brings her show 'Nobody Does It Like Me' to Barrington Stage Company on July 31st with her musical director and composer Ron Abel.

The Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) and Jazz Foundation of America will co-present Stanley Jordan on Today, March 9, 2017 at 8pm at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater. Among the most gifted guitarists of his generation, Jordan is master of the two-handed tapping technique, using the neck of the guitar like a keyboard rather than strumming or picking. Applying this astonishing technique, or "touch style" in another setting, Jordan also performs on both guitar and piano at the same time, playing chords and melodies with his hands on separate instruments and uniquely melding the two sounds into one. More than a technical phenomenon, Jordan conveys an astounding depth of musical expression through a multi-faceted solo repertoire, ranging from bold reinventions of classical masterpieces to improvisational contemporary works. At BAC, Jordan will be joined for several songs by his daughter, New York City-based singer/songwriter Julia Jordan.
