Every so often, a new play or musical being done in Los Angeles catches my eye with a big dose of curiosity. Such is the case with the musical The Translucent Frogs of Quuup with Book by Chris Larner and Music by Mark Stevens, produced by Alchemy Theatre Company and directed by Brian Pirnat with music direction by Brigitte Bellavoine at the Westchester Playhouse from June 14-22. Since I had never heard of it, I decided to speak with the director about the musical and his interest in directing it.

The first London productions in more than 100 years of MAKESHIFTS AND REALITIES has revealed its cast at the Finborough Theatre. A triple bill of Makeshifts and Realities by Gertrude Robins, and Honour Thy Father by H. M. Harwood.

Productions include the include the world premiere of JaMario Stills' 22/16: The Remix of a Global Experiment, the return of Indecent from Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, the Rhode Island premiere of Taylor Mac's Hir, Hansol Jung's Wolf Play and the eight-time Tony Award-winning musical Once, with book by Edna Walsh and music/lyrics by Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová.

Creative partners Maryalice Rubins-Topoleski and Charlotte Kirkby have become very skilled at unearthing the forgotten plays of yesteryear and breathing new life into them.  Their current endeavor is the rare revival of a 1922 comedy - The Dover Road by A. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced its 2023-24 season, which celebrates the passing of the artistic torch and the theme of Legacy, with the final farewell concerts of two esteemed American string quartets, both with long histories at CMS.

The American Symphony Orchestra continues its 2022-23 season on January 27 with a program at St. Bartholomew's Church, a New York National Historic Landmark, exploring music for organ and orchestra by Camille Saint-Saëns and Dame Ethel Smyth. It features soloist Paolo Bordignon, organist and choirmaster of the church and harpsichordist of the New York Philharmonic, along with soprano Anya Matanovic, mezzo-soprano Eve Gigliotti, tenor Joshua Blue, and bass Adam Lau.  

Following the American Symphony Orchestra's (ASO) immensely successful free opening concert at Bryant Park on Sept. 17, the Orchestra continues its 2022-23 season with two winter performances.

Emmy Winner Margo Martindale, Emmy Nominee Molly Parker, Rachel Bilson and Jack Davenport, J. Harrison Ghee and Ian Anthony Dale have joined the cast of Accused, which also features Malcolm Jamal Warner, Karen LeBlanc, Wendell Pierce, Baron Vaughn, Sean Kleier, Rhea Pearlman, Aaron Ashmore and Tony Award nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega. 

The Los Angeles Philharmonic is presenting a summer of jazz, funk, blues, and more at the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford. Upcoming performances include a tribute to Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra at the Hollywood Bowl (July 27), Les Claypool’s Bastard Jazz at The Ford (July 29), and many more. 

PEN America marks a century of work at the forefront of the ever-urgent fight for free expression with PEN America at 100: A Century of Defending the Written Word, which presents letters, photographs, posters, awards, and other artifacts dating from 1922 to the present.

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta announced today that it will present a major exhibition of work by Monir Farmanfarmaian (1922 – 2019), one of Iran's most celebrated visual artists of the 20th century.

Now, more than two years after it was first announced, the cast of Chains will celebrate Opening Night on Thursday June 23rd, at Theatre Row. Performances will now continue through July 23rd.
