The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Benjamin Zander, concludes its 2018-19 season with a concert featuring two great symphonies on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. at Symphony Hall.

The full cast is announced for the Theatr Clwyd and Menier Chocolate Factory co-production of Tennessee Williams' Orpheus Descending. The Presser Foundation is pleased to sponsor the February 17, 2019 Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) Concert being held in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts. Beginning at 3 p.m., the concert celebrates the legacy of Michael Stairs, the renowned organist who has performed worldwide and made such a major impact in the Philadelphia area. Michael Stairs offered his musical contributions to PYO and last performed the Strauss and Saint-Saens selections in 2014 at the PYO 75th Anniversary concert being repeated at this PYO concert.  The February 2019 concert features the extraordinary talent of two special guests - David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Peter Richard Conte, renowned organist. It will showcase the 130 members of the ensemble, between the ages of 14 to 21 who are conducted by the esteemed Maestro Louis Scaglione.

Guitarist Gary Hoey brings his Christmas show, Ho Ho Hoey Rockin' Holiday Tour back to the Empress Theatre for a night of rockin' holiday cheer! This event is a benefit concert for The First Tee of Contra Costa, a proactive youth organization serving youth in Contra Costa County AND South Solano. There will be a guitar auctioned off at the event, which will be autographed by Gary himself!

The New York Philharmonic will present New York Stories: Threads of Our City, January 14-27, 2019, two weeks of concerts and events examining New York City's roots as a city of immigrants. It will center on the World Premiere of Julia Wolfe's Fire in my mouth, co-commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, which reflects on the New York garment industry at the turn of the 20th century and the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, which killed 146 garment workers, most of them young immigrants. New York Stories: Threads of Our City will also feature a program of new chamber music by composers influenced by their time in America; a special guided tour of the Tenement Museum featuring Philharmonic musicians; an archival exhibit featuring materials from the New York Philharmonic Archives, The Forward, the Museum of the City of New York, and the National Archives at New York City; and a free Insights at the Atrium event.

Carnegie Hall launches its 2018-2019 season on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. with a festive Opening Night Gala concert by the San Francisco Symphony under the baton of Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, with a program to include Gershwin's Cuban Overture and An American in Paris as well as Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1. She is the great-great-niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin and has been singing jazz in Bay Area venues for over 20 years. A mezzo-soprano with a soulful voice, Grant has a performance resume which includes a wide range of venues including the Empire Plush Room and Zingari Ristorante in San Francisco, the Ledson Hotel in Sonoma, Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, the Sticky Rice in Fairfield, Carneros in Napa, Slates in Walnut Creek, Joe's of Lafayette, and the Woodminster Amphitheater just to name a few.
