Bryant Park Picnic Performances' season of free, live performances this summer continues with six esteemed New York City-based dance companies showcasing their work on the Bryant Park stage. The programme opens with the world premiere of Anemoi by First Soloist Valentino Zucchetti who develops his ballet Scherzo created especially for the youngest members of the Company and streamed so successfully last autumn. Inspired by Greek mythology where Anemoi gods personify the winds, this uplifting creation ushers in brighter times with positive winds of change and the warm arrival of spring.

The City of Los Angeles, Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, and Los Angeles Parks Foundation have announced an ambitious community initiative to restore and sustain the historic olive grove of Barnsdall Art Park in East Hollywood. LEGENDS AND BRIDGE is a comedy imagining former, silver-screen legend Joan Crawford (matronly, washed-up, and pickled on spiked Pepsi) who invites Judy Garland (recently fired from her CBS TV show) and Bette Davis (bitter at no longer being the “Queen of Hollywood”) up to her Manhattan apartment in 1964 to live with her as they work on a “secret” film project. I find it difficult to believe anyone reading this does not already know about the three screen legends featured in the show. But just to be sure, I decided to interview the three actors portraying them to find out more about what it was like to portray such well-known personalities.

In each episode, Todd and his team work directly with local restaurateurs that are struggling to hang on, by providing creative ideas, hands-on renovations and financial support.

Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen is as relevant today as 140 years ago. a?oeWhen A Doll House was staged in 1879 it generated lot of controversy. Europe's male-dominated society was still unable to comprehend a woman walking away from her husband and children, but Nora does. Ibsen's women are in a search of their own voice, just as women in India are trying to assert their own voice today,a?? says Indian theatre director Ila Arun. She counts Ibsen among the most relevant playwrights of all time.

Executive and Artistic Director, Keith Gerth and Associate Artistic Director, Stephen Smith of the Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview announce their next production, the gripping thriller Murder on the Nile by Agatha Christie. This tale of mystery and suspense is directed by Oil Lamp's Executive and Artistic Director Keith Gerth and will be performed from September 26th through November 10th 2019 at 1723 Glenview Road in Glenview. 

New York City Opera (NYCO), under the direction of Michael Capasso, General Director, has announced that it will celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a free concert in Bryant Park on Monday, September 9 at 6pm. The anniversary concert, which will be the finale to Bryant Park Picnic Performances presented by Bank of America, will feature soloists Michael Chioldi, Lisa Chavez, Glen Seven Allen, Mark Rucker, Brandie Sutton, Won Whi Choi, Kristin Sampson, Mark Delavan, Inna Dukach, and Megan Picerno, backed by a 30-member chorus, accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra led by a quartet of conductors: Carolyn Kuan, James Meena, Gil Rose, and James Lowe. The celebratory concert will be narrated by Mr. Capasso.
