Are you intrigued by the class and elegance of a different time? Are you perhaps a bit nostalgic for the 1940s like me? After performing in My Fair Lady (and watching the TV series Downton Abbey), I have developed a new interest in the 1910s-era in England, its style, and the manors of its citizens.

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Clara Longstreth, will open its 45th season with a program entitled Comfort and Joy, featuring James MacMillan's Missa Brevis, the New York premieres of Judith Shatin's The God of Glory and Sheena Phillips's Two Carols, and works by Bach, Brahms, Victoria, Schutz, Randall Thompson, Abbie Betinis, and others. The concerts will take place Friday, December 7, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 122 East 88th Street (at Lexington Avenue).

The Actors Fund presents a very special Musical Monday, an evening with five grand ladies of musical theatre in LADIES OF AN INDETERMINATE AGE on December 10, 2012. Anne Jeffreys, Jane Kean, Pat Marshall, Patricia Morison and Charlotte Rae - join together on the same stage to sing songs from their careers, talk about their co-stars, directors and composers and stray into their wicked (or not-so-wicked) adventures in the great tradition of "No Business Like Show Business."

The Park Theatre's River Street Theatre (RST) announced that they will present in June a film festival of three films to honor acclaimed actor of the macabre, Vincent Price. The films include The Bat (Saturday, June 2), The Last Man on Earth (Saturday, June 9) and The House on Haunted Hill (Saturday, June 16). All films will be shown at 7 pm.

A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of celebrated stage, screen and television actress Julie Harris, who passed away on Saturday at age 87. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in her memory tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 28th, at exactly 7:45 p.m. for one minute.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Helen Hayes' 1947 Tony Award for Best Dramatic Actress for her performance in HAPPY BIRTHDAY just sold at an auction for $37,230. Hayes' award was a silver makeup compact from Tiffany.

In collaboration with Cinema St. Louis, the Sheldon Art Galleries presents the exhibition Vincentennial: The Legacy of Vincent Price from April 22 - August 6, 2011. A free opening reception at the Sheldon Art Galleries will be held on Friday, April 22, from 6 - 8 p.m. Cinema St. Louis will hold a Vincentennial film festival from May 19 - May 28, 2011.
