Maxie Solters, Studio City native and founder of V-Day Studio City, is bringing author/activist Eve Ensler's award winning play, The Vagina Monologues, to The Federal Bar in North Hollywood on Saturday, April 13 at 8PM and Sunday, April 14 at 1PM.

Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, opened Charlie's Waiting by Inaugural Parity Commission Winner Melisa Annis on March 31 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. Charlie's Waiting is playing an extended run of 21 performances now through April 20. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser. 

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast for the world premiere of Kiss My Aztec! John Leguizamo teams up with Artistic Director Tony Taccone for this musical comedy, following their collaboration on the hit one-man show Latin History for Morons, which received its world premiere at Berkeley Rep before heading to Broadway. Leguizamo will serve as co-writer and co-lyricist only for Kiss My Aztec! - 11 other talented actors will perform in this production. Taccone will also direct.

Pasadena Playhouse, State Theatre of California, welcomes the LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) for a Summer Acting Intensive from July 22 through August 2.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces today that Maurice Jones has stepped into the title role of the Theater's upcoming production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, staged by Artistic Director Barbara Gaines, in the Courtyard Theater, April 17-June 9, 2019.

One of Japan's most celebrated playwrights, Hashida Sugako, has moved countless audiences with such popular works as Oshin, Wataru Seken wa oni Bakari and Akai Giwaku. Her play Marriage, originally a 1982 television drama and adapted for the stage the following year, traces the path of women's self-determination and how they overcome fate. Marriage, which has appeared on the Chinese-language stage many times and touched theatregoers' hearts far and wide, concerns five women living under one roof, connected by familial bonds and mutual promises in facing adversity. Yet everything changes when love enters into the picture. How do they free themselves from their shackles, pursuing happiness without any regret? The play's 2015 HKRep premiere production received 11 nominations at the Hong Kong Drama Awards, winning Best Actress (Tragedy/Drama), Best Set Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Top Ten Popular Productions. Translated by Yu Daiqin and directed by Fong Chun Kit, this production features Mercy Wong, Man Shui Hing, Kiki Cheung, ManMan Kwok, Ip Ka Yan, Chris Sun, Leung Tin Chak, Yuen Wai Sun, Chow Chi Fai and Eddy Au Yeung. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) has added three performances to its highly anticipated upcoming production of Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. The production now runs February 27 through March 17 at the Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley.

Book-It Repertory Theatre [Book-It] announces that Founder and Founding Co-Artistic Director Jane Jones and Founding Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt will step down from their roles at the end of Book-It's 30th season, in the summer of 2020. Over the next year, Book-It plans to hire a new artistic director through a local and national search.

Robert Fox and Alex Turner, in association with Park Theatre and King's Head Theatre, today announce the full cast for the UK premiere of Martin Sherman's new play Gently Down The Stream, following a critically acclaimed run at the Public Theater in New York. Sean Mathias directs Jonathan Hyde, Ben Allen and Harry Lawtey. The production opens at Park Theatre on 18 February 2019, with previews from 13 February, running until 16 March.
