On Friday, July 20th the board of the Provincetown Theater Foundation and their new artistic director, Obie Award winner David Drake, will present the first annual Provincetown American Playwright Award to Terrence McNally, the four-time Tony Award-winning playwright of such iconic plays and musicals as Master Class, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, The Full Monty, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and this summer's Cape Cod premiere of his masterpiece Love! Valour! Compassion! at the Provincetown Theater.

Cleveland Public Theatre's (CPT) Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to present the return of CPT's celebrated Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP), Cleveland's longest-running arts and job training program for urban teens. STEP celebrates its 24th year with the latest original play, After the Shadow, created and performed by the 2018 STEP cast and tech ensemble, on tour to Cleveland city parks from July 31 - August 10.

"Long overdue, I'm thrilled and honored to breathe life into this vibrant American classic for our audiences this season."

The Joffrey Ballet has received a $5 million endowment gift from the Paul Galvin Memorial Foundation Trust in honor of Mary B. Galvin, a long-time supporter and Board Director of the Joffrey, to establish The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director position. The gift will be distributed in two installments of $2.5 million over the next two years. Effective immediately, Ashley Wheater will assume the title of The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director. The Galvin Foundation gift is the largest single endowment gift in Joffrey history, and the first to name a position at the Joffrey.

Throughout the upcoming 2018-2019 season, the Carnegie Hall Citywide concert series will bring more than thirty free performances by top classical, jazz, world, and popular music artists to seventeen different venues across New York City. The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) announced it will present BAD NEWS! i was there… created and directed by JoAnne Akalaitis with Kate Atwell, Greg Taubman and Ashley Tata with original music and sound by Bruce Odland. Playing June 2-3, 2018, for four performances only, this unique theater experience will take place in the Guthrie lobbies in promenade style, which requires patrons to stand and walk during the performance. A limited number of chairs will be available for accessible seating.

Vencl Dance returns to Graham Center of Contemporary Dance June 21-23 with 'Critical Junctures,' an evening of contemporary modern dance by Susan Vencl with music by Arlene Sierra. The concert premiers 'Intersections,' a 35 minute sextet, and presents a 33 minute reconstruction of Vencl's 2016 meditation on randomness and unpredictability, 'Long Before Afterward.'

George Street Playhouse's Annual Gala Benefit, held Sunday, May 6, at the Heldrich in downton New Brunswick, saw GSP Board President Dr. Penelope Lattimer honored with the Thomas H. Heralded costume designer Paul Tazewell told the Class of 2018 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) to embrace their role as pioneers. Tazewell, a 1986 graduate of the School of Design and Production who won a Tony Award in 2016 for the costumes he designed for the Broadway smash 'Hamilton,' spoke May 5 to the largest graduating class in the history of UNCSA.

The 147-year-old Goodall Mansion in Sanford will have a whole new form of life inside its 18 rooms this summer. Until now, this historical important structure in the heart of downtown has basically housed only many generations of Goodalls, the family largely responsible for the growth of Sanford in the 20th Century.

The 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival, partnered with CineVegas,announced this morning the initial programming lineup for the 2018 Festival, to be held at Brenden Theatres and Palms Casino Resort June 6 – 10. The lineup includes a mix of feature films and documentaries that have been favorites on the international festival circuit, as well as new additions to this year's Festival - live discussions and live comedy. 2018 also marks the first year with seasoned film festival programming veteran Mike Plante serving as the Festival's Captain of Strategy.

CJ Entertainment announced today that its highly anticipated espionage film, “The Spy Gone North” (“Gongjak”), is releasing in the U.S. this Summer. The film has been invited to the Midnight section of the 71stCannes Film Festival, which is taking place May 8-19. Directed by YOON Jong-bin, this is his second invitation after “The Unforgiven” in 2006. Starring HWANG Jung-min (“The Battleship Island,” “The Wailing”), LEE Sung-min (“The Sheriff in Town”, “A Violent Prosecutor”), CHO Jin-woong (“The Handmaiden,” “Bluebeard”), and JU Ji-hoon (“Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds,” “Asura: City of Madness”; this is HWANG and CHO's second invitation to the festival as well. CJ E&M now has a total of nine titles that have been invited to the Cannes Film Festival.

dick clark productions and NBC today announced nominees for the "2018 Billboard Music Awards," which will honor the year's most successful artists in 57 categories of music.  Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran lead the pack with 15 nominations each, followed by Post Malone with 13, Imagine Dragons with 11, Drake with 9 and Justin Bieber and Cardi B with 8. The "2018 Billboard Music Awards" will broadcast LIVE coast to coast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
