Provincetown Theater Premieres LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! Image

Opening July 16th, the Provincetown Theater is proud to announce the Cape Cod premiere of Terrence McNally's beloved Broadway comedy Love! Valour! Compassion! for a summer-long run at the company's playhouse at 238 Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA 02657. "Frankly, I was stunned when I discovered McNally's masterpiece had never been produced on Cape Cod," says artistic director David Drake. "Long overdue, I'm thrilled and honored to breathe life into this vibrant American classic for our audiences this season."

Love! Valour! Compassion! will perform Mondays through Thursdays at 7:30pm from July 16th thru Aug 30th. Tickets are $40, and can be obtained at provincetowntheater.org, or by calling the box office at 508.487.7487. Tickets can also be purchased in-person at our new Downtown Community Box Office at 230 Commercial Street, open daily from 12noon - 8pm.

Winner of the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Obie, and New York Drama Critics' Circle awards for Best Play of 1995, McNally's story of friendship, loyalty, lust and love, centers on an intergenerational group of gay men who gather over the course of one summer in a turn-of-the-century farmhouse in Duchess County, New York. By turns hilarious, sexy, and moving, their journey together allows each man to claim a deeper depth of love, valour, and compassion for themselves, for one another, and for the unknown road ahead.

Directed by Obie Award winner David Drake, the cast of Love! Valour! Compassion! stars Broadway veteran Peter Gregus (original cast member of the Tony Award-winning musicals Contact and Jersey Boys) in the duel/twin roles of John and James. In the role of Gregory, Drake will join Gregus onstage, alongside Mark Boucher (Arthur), Scott Cunningham (Perry), Adam Ross (Ramon), Tommy Walsh (Bobby), and making his Provincetown debut, the Broadwayworld.com Award-winning actor Justin D. Quackenbush as Buzz.

For adults only, the production includes frank language and full-frontal nudity.

The creative team continues from the theater's spring opener, You Can't Take It with You, with Sets by Ellen Rousseau, Lighting by Chris Page, and Costumes by Carol Sherry. Sound Design by Sam Sewell, Associate Director Myra Slotnick, with Choreography by Peter Gregus and Tony Award nominee Robert La Fosse.

Tickets for Love! Valour! Compassion! can be purchased daily at our new Community Downtown Box Office, daily from 12noon - 8pm at 230 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657, or online at provincetowntheater.org. Box office hours at the Provincetown Theater, 238 Bradford Street, are 1pm - 8pm on performance days, and 1pm - 5pm on non-performance days. For more info, call 508.487.7487.
