The Woodsman is the untold story of Oz's Tin Woodsman, the woman he loved, and the witch that would stop at nothing to keep them apart. A lonely woodsman from the Land of Oz must embark on a harrowing journey to protect the love of his life from her evil guardian, the Wicked Witch of the East. Through puppetry, movement, and song, Strangemen & Co. presents a hauntingly beautiful and ultimately heartbreaking twist on the forgotten writings of L. Frank Baum.

Edward W. Hardy, acclaimed composer and virtuoso violinist released a performance video of his latest Edgar Allan Poe inspired composition entitled 'Evil Eye'. Back in May of 2018, this piece was premiered, along with the other two Poe inspired pieces Nevermore and A Fantasy, at his EtM Con Edison Composer-in-Residence concert at the Turtle Bay Music School. Hardy's 'Evil Eye', and 'Nevermore' were produced by himself, Jim McElwaine and recorded and mixed by Jonathan Jetter at Right Angle Recording, New York, NY.

Additional performances will be on Thursday, October 24 at 8pm, Friday, October 25 at 8pm, and Saturday, October 26 at 8pm. Previously announced performances will be on Thursday, October 17 at 8pm, Friday, October 18 at 8pm, Saturday, October 19 at 8pm, and Sunday, October 20 at 3pm. Corkscrew Theater Festival presents Pie Shop Play, written by Alice Pencavel and directed by Sivan Battat. Running July 20-29, Pie Shop Play concerns two sisters whose big dreams are derailed when the pipes in their pie shop burst, leaking toxic unknowns that rob them of coherent speech. As the shop slowly floods, buried trauma, and secrets pour forth as well, forcing the sisters to work it out (through garbled English) before they drown. Performed by Devin Kessler, Futaba Shioda*, Kaylee Simonson, Eliza Simpson*, and Madame Vivien V, Pie Shop Play is the third production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.

Fellow is Rachel Sussman, the seventh fellow in the one year program designed to educate and empower new creative producers. New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) and The Writers Lab co-founders Elizabeth Kaiden and Nitza Wilon are pleased to announce the return of The Writers Lab for 2019. Now in its fifth year, the groundbreaking program provides exclusive mentorship opportunities with leading filmmakers to women screenwriters over the age of 40, increasing opportunities for content made by women. The program has been supported every year since its inception by Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, fostering work written by and about women, with 48 writers having completed the program to date. The Writers Lab offers a unique and nurturing experience for 12 talented female screenwriters. Selected writers will attend a four-day retreat with outstanding female film mentors, engaging in panels, peer discussions and one-on-one meetings October 2-6, 2019, at the Guest House Retreat Center in Chester, Connecticut. This year the Lab is proud to welcome two new mentors, Academy Award- and Golden Globe Award-nominated screenwriter Robin Swicord (The Promise, Wakefield, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Memoirs of A Geisha) and Pulitzer playwright nominee and multi award-winning screenwriter Theresa Rebeck (355,Smash, THE FAMILY of Mann, NYPD Blue, The Bells).

'Evolution' is an original solo violin composition that explores a few different genres of music (spiritual, jazz, blues, hip hop and classical) and was commissioned and performed for the Black Caucus at Howard Theatre; part of the opening of the African American Smithsonian Museum.
