Ruth Wilson will star in Ivo van Hove’s adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice, which he also directs with design by Jan Versweyveld, originally produced by Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. The production opens at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 22 March, with previews from 17 March, and runs for three weeks only until 9 April.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the return of Literature Live! with the staged virtual premiere of Shakespeare's Macbeth on Tuesday, November 9, at 8 p.m., followed by a talkback between the show's creators and actors. O'Brien Entertainment has announced the new cast for its remounted production of The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats at St. Luke's Theatre. Adapted for the stage by Jerome Hairston with music by Victor Zupanc, the show is inspired by four of Keats' most beloved stories, including the 1963 Caldecott Award-winning picture book, The Snowy Day.

The Sarasota Ballet will revive Galina Samsova's production of Paquita during the company's 2018-19 season. William Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew' is one of the notable vintage comedy tropes about the fella trying to get the girl. But like wine, some comedy flavor becomes bitter with time. The core of 'The Taming of the Shrew' holds a tone of accepted abuse and manipulation of women. The comedy structure of an arrogant wealthy man psychologically berating a woman into submission was in the past seen as a blueprint of male behavior. Thankfully, now it is viewed as a reminder of chauvinistic dynamics in society that must be challenged.
