Launching with The Great Pyjama Party on 25th June 2022, Museum of the Home’s Festival of Sleep explores our understanding and experience of sleep and rest, how it has changed over time and  across cultures. With thoughtful galleries sharing stories of home from a range of perspectives, and  curatorial expertise in inviting everyone to think about what ‘home’ means, the Museum is uniquely  positioned to examine the nation’s quest for more and better sleep. Festival of Sleep will also explore  how homelessness, ill health and domestic violence affect our sleep and our dreams. This is the second annual festival from Museum of the Home, following the success of its Festival of Belonging in 2021. 

 California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera present the World Premiere of California Symphony's Young American Composer-in-Residence (2017-2020) Katherine Balch's Illuminate, the centerpiece of a program titled French Impressions. Mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra and sopranos Molly Netter and Alexandra Smither, who were personally selected by the composer, will perform this new work.

Director Matthew Ozawa’s interpretation of the work updates its original eighteenth-century prison setting to a modern government detention center.

San Francisco Opera announced today repertory, casting and reopening plans for its 99th season. John Lithgow is featured in a special, new audio recording released by 92Y: a reading of William Maxwell’s novel, So Long, See You Tomorrow. The novel is Lithgow’s personal favorite, and in the recording, commissioned by 92Y’s Unterberg Poetry Center, the Emmy Award-winner reads it in its entirety.

Jake Broder's UNRAVELLED virtually premieres February 25, 2021. Jake explores the not-oft-told, surprising, complicated connection between genius, art and medical science, told via the correlation between modern Canadian artist Dr. Anne Adams (1940–2007) and French composer Maurice Ravel (1875–1937). Tito (Magnificently portrayed by Jamie Michael Parnell) has been hired to perform as the lead I Giuseppe Verdi's opera, Otello. The issue initially is that Tito has failed to arrive at the allotted time, sending the General manager of the opera into a panic.
