'Marx Bros. & The Golden Age of Vaudeville,' a one-week festival including brand new restorations of the team's first five feature comedies, along with special programs devoted to the halcyon days of vaudeville, will run at Film Forum from Today, September 23 through Thursday, September 29.

'Without Dietrich, there would have been no Madonna...and no Gaga,' Janice Hall announced at the outset of her brilliant revival of GRAND ILLUSIONS: THE MUSIC OF MARLENE DIETRICH, the most recent installment of Stephen Hanks' New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits. Co-produced by Father Jeffrey R. Hamblin and flawlessly directed by Peter Napolitano, Hall's show---for which the former opera singer won both MAC and Bistro awards in 2011 and 2012, respectively---seamlessly weaves together the music and life of the enigmatic movie star and international cabaret sensation whose greatest creation, in Hall's words, 'was herself.'

In 1929 the country was plunged into a financial collapse. The result was a diminishment of funds for not only food and housing, but the collapse of the arts, including the film and theatre industries.

Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann gave the audience three works in three categories from which to choose for the Canton Symphony Orchestra's opening night concert and they chose well!  The concert, titled "You Asked For It!", kicks off the CSO's 79th season on October 1, 2016 at 8:00pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center and is sponsored in part by Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, Fred Olivieri Construction Company, The Williams Companies and Glenn and Joy E.  Peninsula Players Theatre, America's Oldest Professional Resident Summer Theatre and Door County's professional theatrical icon, continues its 81st season throughAugust 14 with the lively, uplifting pop-rock musical that takes it all off, 'The Full Monty' with book by Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by David Yazbek.   'The Full Monty.'   'The Full Monty' contains adult themes, language and nudity.

Never having seen this on stage but having read the novella some time ago, at the time acknowledging it as one of the most memorable stories I have ever read, seeing Steinbeck's words and emotions transposed on stage by the Monomoy Theatre, bringing to the life this simultaneously sad and touchingly hopeful plot by such talented individuals, really made the impact of Of Mice and Men that much stronger. In my opinion, it enhances this plot to the extent of it being particularly memorable for some time to come for all who are fortunate enough to see this production.

This winter, thirty years after it first premiered at Circle Repertory Company, producers Stacey Mindich and Jessica R. Jenen will present the first-ever Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's acclaimed play, Burn This, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, and starring Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal. The play will re-open Ambassador Theatre Group's historic Hudson Theatre (139-141 West 44th St) on Broadway. Performances begin February 2017, with an opening night set for Monday, March 6, 2017.
