In American Repertory Theater of WNY's inaugural season, the company found a perfect theatrical space to operate two of the three shows slated in the 2007-08 season. Working out of the TheaterLoft (545 Elmwood Avenue), home to the acclaimed and diverse Ujima Theatre Company, ART/WNY presented two works WHEN YA COMING BACK, RED RYDER, by Mark Medoff, and Tennessee William's The Rose Tattoo (which earned the company's first Artie Nomination for Best Ensemble). These two productions brought notoriety to the upstart company and established ART/WNY's reputation for producing thought-provoking, unknown or rarely done works that tell the American story. Mercury Theatre Colchester and TBO Productions today announce full casting for the world premiere of their brand-new musical - Pieces of String, with book, music and lyrics by Gus Gowland. Ryan McBryde directs Carol Starks (Jane), Andy Coxon (Ed), Marilyn Cutts (Rose), Ella Dunlop (Gemma), Lauren Hall (Anna), Joel Harper-Jackson (Tom), Craig Mather (Edward) and Gary Wood (Harry). Open auditions were held in Colchester to cast Young Rose, and the part will be alternated by three young people local to the theatre. The second production in the inaugural season at NST City, A Streetcar Named Desire opens at Nuffield Southampton Theatres on 28 March with previews from 23 March, running until 31 March. The evening will celebrate Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Warren Beatty, Tony Award-winning Broadway and film director Kenny Leon, currently director of Children of a Lesser God on Broadway, two-time Tony Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Chita Rivera, and Golden Globe-winning, Academy Award and Emmy-nominated actress Uma Thurman. Mr. Beatty, Mr. Leon, Ms. Rivera and Ms. Thurman will be awarded The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor.
