The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (September 4) to present Honorary Awards to publicist Marvin Levy, composer Lalo Schifrin and actress Cicely Tyson, and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall.  The three Oscar® statuettes and Thalberg Award will be presented at the Academy's 10th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, November 18, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.

This September features many new titles coming to Amazon Prime. Prime Original series King Lear will become available on Prime Video on September 28th. Other Prime Originals coming to the service in September include series premieres of Six Dreams (Sep 7) and Forever (Sep 14) as well as season 1a of Pete the Cat (Sep 7) and season 2b of Wishenpoof (Sep 7). Additionally, you can catch season two of PBS's hit British series Victoria starting August 25 on Prime Video. 

Following critical acclaim and with the current run almost sold out, the European premiere of Jordan Seavey's Homos, or Everyone in America at the Finborough Theatre adds 3 extra Wednesday matinees due to public demand - 15, 22 and 29 August at 3pm. Josh Seymour directs Tyrone Huntley (The Academic), Harry McEntire (The Writer), Dan Krikler (Dan) and Cash Holland (Laila). The production completes its run on 1 September.

ARJUN, the three-piece instrumental band from New York, has been trailblazing their own hybrid of rock and improvisational jazz since 2003. Featuring Eddie Arjun Peters on guitar, Andre Lyles on bass guitar and Michael Vetter on drums; ARJUN fuses the power of rock with improvisational alternative jazz, resulting in a delicate balance of intricately crafted melodies backed by powerhouse musicianship.

When it comes to seeing a fresh new show with low or even non-existent expectations, nothing is more pleasurable and satisfying than walking out at the end of it with a huge, beaming smile on your face. That was the giddy communal feeling that I and an ecstatic audience experienced recently during the highly enjoyable Orange County opening night performance of SCHOOL OF ROCK - The Musical, the charming 2015 Broadway musical now continuing its national tour stop at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts for two weeks through August 5. While certainly not a groundbreaking, game-changing musical by any means, the nonetheless engaging SCHOOL OF ROCK is a definite crowdpleaser worth checking out. The kids in the show? Spectacular!

More artists have been announced to perform at the Chillin' on the Lucie music festival in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Oct. 3 - 7. Uncle Kracker has joined the roster, as well as Cassadee Pope, Parmalee, Josh Gracin, Clare Dunn, Kalie Shorr, Hudson Moore and Lewis Brice. Twang and Round, Radio Romance, Julia Cole, Honey County, County Wide and Libby Switzer are also set to perform. Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit School of Rock - The Musical, announced today that the show will play its final Broadway performance at the Winter Garden Theatre on January 20, 2019. By that date, the show will have run for more than 3 years, playing 1,307 performances and 31 previews. The production recouped its entire Broadway investment in May of 2017.

The cast is announced today for the European premiere of Jordan Seavey's Homos, or Everyone in America at the Finborough Theatre. Opening at Hale Centre Theatre on May 17 and playing through June 30, 2018 is the acclaimed Broadway musical Big Fish. Directed and choreographed by Cambrian James, with Musical Direction by Elizabeth Spencer, Big Fish is a family-friendly, delightful musical with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August. It is based on Daniel Wallace's 1998 novel, Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions, and the 2003 film Big Fish written by August and directed by Tim Burton.

EgoPo is collaborating with Guare to present all three plays, now titled Cold Harbor, Aipotu, and Madaket Road in a consecutive cycle, with music by Jay Ansill and Cynthia Hopkins. This epic piece of theater about an American family, set between the Civil War and the birth of the 20th-century, runs from April 25-May 6. During this time, there will be two opportunities to see the trilogy over three consecutive evenings, and four opportunities to see all three plays in one day.
