Flashpoint Theatre Company opens its 2010-2011 season with the premiere of Run, Mourner, Run by Tarell Alvin McCraney on October 27-November 20 at Second Stage at the Adrienne (2030 Sansom Street). Directed by Matt Pfeiffer, the ensemble cast includes Jake Blouch, Keith Conallen, Amanda Grove, Melanye Finister, Gerard Joseph, Aime Kelly, Jon Mulhearn and Brian McCann.

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, established in 1955, are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre. Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper, the 2010 Awards will be presented at the Savory on November 28, 2010. The short list of the 2010 nominees will be released one week prior to the ceremony.

Asolo Repertory Theatre announced the complete cast of its upcoming production of Bonnie & Clyde a thrilling new musical with book by Ivan Menchell (The Cemetery Club, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang); music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel); lyrics by Tony Award-winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard, Song and Dance); Music Supervision, Arrangements and Orchestrations by John McDaniel; and direction and musical staging by Tony Award- winner Jeff Calhoun (Deaf West's Big River and Pippin, Grease!). The production runs from November 16 - December 19, 2010 on the Asolo Rep mainstage-The Mertz Theatre. The press opening is November 19, at 8 p.m.

RIALTO CHATTER: Douglas Carter Beane to Re-Write Broadway's SISTER ACT?

Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment announced today that the new Broadway musical, SISTER ACT, will play the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) this spring. Preview performances are scheduled to begin on March 24, 2011. Opening night is confirmed for Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Casting and on sale date will be announced shortly.

New Village Arts Theatre and Moonlight Cultural Foundation are teaming up to bring Shakespeare in the Park back to North County San Diego. Shakespeare's romantic comedy AS YOU LIKE IT will be set in 1969 New Orleans, with the Forest of Arden located in the bayou outside of the city.
