Tony Award-winning Trinity Repertory Company announces the casting for its 2018-19 season as well as the addition of Daniel Duque-Estrada, the latest member to its resident acting company. Leading the announcement of this season's cast is The Arthur P. Solomon and Sally E. Lapides Artistic Director, Curt Columbus. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced programming for its 2018-2019 season of Performances for Young Audiences, featuring trailblazing journeys in theater, music, and dance that will inspire and resonate with audiences of all ages. The Kennedy Center has commissioned and co-commissioned six world premiere works that will bring audiences on expeditions through time and place to Birmingham in the 1960s, through a young man's imagination in present day New York City, and even to the stars and beyond.

The 49th Annual Nashville Film Festival continues its rollout of film announcements with the seven selected Documentary Special Presentations that include the World Premiere of James Keach's Turning Point. Seattle's Black community is invited to 'Cultured Conversations: Black Inclusion at the Opera,' an open forum led by facilitator ChrisTiana ObeySumner. ObeySumner, social impact consultant for Seattle Opera, is leading conversations on Black representation and inclusion this spring and summer during the company's presentations of Aida and Porgy and Bess. The March forum is free and open to individuals who identify as Black* with an interest in theater, classical music, the performing arts, and especially-opera. Participants will be able to speak freely and share ideas in this safe space for people of color. Topics will include Black representation onstage and behind the scenes, various ways to get involved with the art form, and potential steps toward a future for opera that centers people of color.

In 2002, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre opened its season with a set of new owners and the hilarious musical comedy farce A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Sixteen years later, the Kiska family, who purchased the theatre in 2002, and Way Off Broadway are very excited to see the return of one of the funniest shows to ever appear on the WOB stage. The Mississippi Museum of Art (the Museum) and Tougaloo College (the College) are presenting Now: The Call and Look of Freedom, the inaugural exhibition of the Art and Civil Rights Initiative (the Initiative) through May 15, 2018. The Initiative, funded by the Henry Luce Foundation and launched in December 2017, is a multi-layered, multi-year partnership that leverages the art collections of both institutions to foster community dialogue and interpretation about civil rights issues, past and present. Romare Bearden. The Conversation, 1979 Elizabeth Catlett. My Right is a Future of Equality with Other Americans, from The Negro Woman series, 1947 Now: The Call and Look of Freedom is on view at the Tougaloo College Art Gallery in The Bennie G. Thompson Academic & Civil Rights Research Center. It is the first in a series of four exhibitions over two years drawing from the collections of the College and the Museum to be mounted alternatively at both institutions. The exhibition is curated by LaTanya Autry, Curator of Art & Civil Rights, a joint position she holds with the College and the Museum.

The Martha Graham Dance Company's spring NEW@Graham event will feature a look inside two works that are new to the Company: Lucinda Childs' Histoire and Lar Lubovitch's The Legend of Ten. For Histoire, Childs has expanded a 1999 duet she created for the Company into a work for eight dancers. The Legend of Ten joins the Company's repertory in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. Excerpts from both works will be performed by the renowned Graham dancers and introduced by Graham Company Artistic Director Janet Eilber. The Company will premiere both works during its New York City Center season in April.
