Artists from the bands Postmodern Jukebox, tUnE-yArDs and Diane Coffee join Broadway and West End talent for Lyric Opera's North American premiere of Timothy Sheader's explosive Olivier Award-winning production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, presented from April 27 to May 20, 2018 at the Lyric Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago (press opening April 28).

Casting is announced today for James Graham's 'sparkling new play', Quiz, which transfers to the No l Coward Theatre. Following the success of Ink and Labour of Love, Quiz completes a hat-trick of productions in the West End for Graham in less than a year. Artistic Director of Chichester Festival Theatre, Daniel Evans, directs Keir Charles, Greg Haiste, Mark Meadows, Henry Pettigrew, Gavin Spokes, Stephanie Street, Jay Villiers, Lizzie Winkler and Sarah Woodward who reprise their roles from the run at Chichester Festival Theatre. They are joined by Sharon Ballard.

In March, New Conservatory Theatre Center presents the regional premiere of Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play, in a newly revised version which marks McNally's eleventh production at NCTC. It's opening night of Peter Austin's new Broadway play, and while at the producer's penthouse for a lavish party, he anxiously awaits the play's reviews. With his career on the line and celebrities pouring in downstairs, he huddles upstairs with the producer, director and star of the show. Penobscot Theatre Company will warm hearts this winter with an uproariously tall tale by award-winning actor Jeff Daniels. Directed by the theatre's producing artistic director Bari Newport, the comedy Escanaba in da Moonlight will runFebruary 1-18, 2018, with 14 performances at the historic Bangor Opera House.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the area's only year-round producing theatre, kicks off its 2018 Mega-Mini Season with Shrek The Musical. The hit Broadway production will mark the beginning of Way Off Broadway's 24th Season of bringing live stage entertainment to the region. Shrek opens January 12th.
