Based on the play Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand

Nevada Conservatory Theatre presents the classic musical, The Fantasticks, featuring music by Harvey Schmidt, with lyrics by Tom Jones.

Two neighboring fathers put up a wall between their houses to ensure that their children fall in love, because they know children always do what their parents forbid. After the children do fall in love, they discover their fathers' plot and they each go off and experience things in the world. They return to each other and the love they had, having learned from the world.

Review: THE FANTASTICKS Enchants with Original Off-Broadway Staging Thanks to Director Sherman Wayne at Theatre Palisades
by Shari Barrett - Sep 8, 2017

There are many reasons why The Fantasticks original off-Broadway production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical which continues to enchant audiences around the world. Aside from it being a 'Romeo and Juliet' type story we can all relate to, but with a much happier ending, its most well-known song, 'Try to Remember,' speaks to everyone wanting to go back to a time in our lives when all things were much more simple, romantic, and totally carefree. by Bonnie Lynn Wagner - Sep 6, 2017

The first thing that drew me to SPARK was the theatre influence. What are some of your favorite stage plays and/or musicals? You don't have to live in the heart of New York City to love the theater, do you? There's definitely something in the air! Springfield's also home to several vintage theaters—I grew up going to productions inside them. I referenced a few in SPARK (The Fantasticks), as well as a few Shakespeare works (especially Romeo and Juliet). But I also wanted to show my readers what was in my mind's eye as I created the Avery theater. My local color video takes you on a tour: (more...)
