The winners of the 2013 Richard Rodgers Awards for Musical Theater were announced today by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, which administers the Rodgers Awards. The winning musicals are: Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 by Dave Malloy, and The Kid Who Would Be Pope by Tom and Jack Megan. Both shows were awarded studio productions.

As part of the eighth edition of the COIL festival, Performance Space 122 (PS122) and The Chocolate Factory present a return engagement of Hot Box, from Brian Rogers. Hot Box is a loud, dark, drunken live performance (and endurance challenge) that takes inspiration from Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now and Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo-particularly the extreme physical trials the actors underwent in order to create a genuine experience on screen. Hot Box features dancer Madeline Best and non-performer Rogers, taking center stage in his own work for the first time.

The SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street, NYC) announced today that tickets are on sale for the next show in its fall 2012 lineup: Ingenious Nature. Ingenious Nature is a new theatrical mix-tape, written and performed by Baba Brinkman, the Canadian rap artist, writer, and creator of The Canterbury Tales Remixed ("Delightful!" The New York Times) and The Rap Guide to Evolution (2011 Drama Desk Award Nominee), both of which played at the SoHo Playhouse in 2011.
