The Comedy About Spies 2026

Set in 1961, the same year that a balding former milkman and coffin-polisher from Edinburgh was interviewed for the role of James Bond, The Comedy About Spies sees two pairs of agents (one American, one Russian) face off in London’s Piccadilly Hotel as they hunt for the mysterious “Project Midnight” documents. As this is from Mischief Theatre, there’s no prizes for guessing just how straightforward and successful they will be.

New production photos have been released from Mischief’s award-winning  The Comedy About Spies.  The production is running at the Adelphi Theatre. Check out the photos here!

After a successful run at the Noël Coward last year, Mischief Theatre’s The Comedy About Spies has returned to the West End for a limited run until September, this time at the Adelphi Theatre. Recently, we had the chance to speak with the director, Matt DiCarlo, about restaging The Comedy About Spies. We discussed how he first became involved with Mischief Theatre, what it’s been like directing The Play That Goes Wrong in both London and New York City and how both he and the cast have been looking at The Comedy About Spies with a fresh perspective.

The original West End cast of THE COMEDY ABOUT SPIES will return to London's Adelphi Theatre for an eight-week run, joined by Mischief member Bryony Corrigan. The show won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play.

Mischief's hilarious, award-winning production of The Comedy About Spies will be returning to London this summer. Learn more about the upcoming production here!
