Hagen Quartet Returns To Zankel Hall For Performances

The acclaimed Hagen Quartet plays two exciting programs in Zankel Hall in March 2019. On Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m., they are joined by clarinetist and composer Jorg Widmann for the United States premiere of his Clarinet Quintet (co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project) and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, both featuring the composer as clarinetist. Also on the program are selections from Dvorak's Cypresses. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., there is a pre-concert talk with Jorg Widmann and Hagen Quartet violinist Rainer Schmidt in conversation with Jeremy Geffen, Senior Director and Artistic Adviser, Carnegie Hall.

Uptown Players is proud to present the hilarious musical Disaster! This side-splitting musical celebrates the era of bell-bottoms, platform shoes and the hustle. Written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, with concept by Seth Rudetsky and Drew Geraci, the production runs March 22 through April 7 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

Peter Oundjian Appointed Music Director Of Colorado Music Festival; 2019 Concert Season Announced

The Colorado Music Festival today announced the appointment of conductor Peter Oundjian as its next Music Director. He is the fourth person to hold this title in the 42-year history of the festival, which is held for six weeks each year at the Colorado Chautauqua, a National Historic Landmark at the foot of the rugged Flatirons. Mr. Oundjian led the 2018 festival as Artistic Advisor, and his appointment as Music Director was announced along with the festival's 2019 season, which runs from June 27 to August 3 and explores the legacy of Beethoven.

Theater for the New City Hosts the NY Premiere Of COLORSTRUCK By Donald E. Lacy, Jr.

From February 28 to March 17, Theater for the New City will present comedian/actor/broadcaster Donald E. Lacy Jr. in the New York debut of his one man show, 'ColorStruck.' The play was born in California's Bay Area and has been presented on college campuses around the country and at the National Black Theatre Festival. It was performed twice for the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus.

Emmy Winner Sarah Silverman Joins Sirius XM Star Seth Rudetsky For Series At The Herbst

Producer Mark Cortale has announced the season finale of his series at The Herbst Theatre  - two time Emmy Award winner Sarah Silverman will join Seth Rudetsky on Sunday, May 19th at 8:00 PM for one show only. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced today that Broadway, film, and television star Rosie O'Donnell will play Mrs. Paroo in the Broadway Center Stage production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man. East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theater of color and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to the Board of Directors: Christine Chang, Alex Giza, Andrew Huynh, May Lee, and Nayan Shah. The new appointments hail from diverse backgrounds in law, media, education, e-commerce, and global management, and are avid supporters of the performing arts and Asian American theater. The size of EWP's Board of Directors has increased to 17 members from 12 members last year.
