BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Tony Award-winning stage and screen actor Robert Morse has died at age 90. Morse may be best known to Broadway fans as the original  J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, a role for which he won a Tony Award.

Abell Auction Co. has announced a June 17 online-only auction of Broadway legend Carol Channing's estate. The auction will feature will feature Broadway memorabilia, Tony Awards and Channing's belongings. 

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

Piano Bar Live! continues Tuesday, July 7th at 7:15 pm ET with a very special show celebrating Boston's vibrant Cabaret scene and the reopening of the iconic Club Cafe. The Broadway community mourns the loss of Carol Channing, a Tony Award winner and theatrical legend, who passed away on Tuesday, January 15 at age 97. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of Broadway theatres in New York for one minute on Wednesday, January 16 at exactly 7:45pm.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre completes its 2015 Nutmeg Summer Series with the musical comedy Xanadu. Directed by CRT's Artistic Director, Vincent J. Cardinal and choreographed by Cassie Abate, Xanadu tells the story of a muse named Clio who travels to 1980's Venice Beach, California disguised as a mortal to inspire chalk artist and beach boy Sonny Malone. Clio faces the jealousy of her two sisters, Melpomene and Calliope, the wrath of her father Zeus, and the struggles of fitting in as a mortal as she and Danny fight for their dream to open a roller disco with awesome mirror balls. Amandina Altomare stars in the lead role of Clio/Kira. Altomare was previously seen on the CRT stage as Lousie in Gypsy, Judy in A Chorus Line, and earlier this summer in LES MISERABLES: A Musical Celebration directed by Terrence Mann. Performances of Xanadu begin on July 9, 2015 and run through July 19, 2015 at Connecticut Repertory Theatre's Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at crt.uconn.edu or 860-486-2113.

Altomare was previously seen on the CRT stage as Lousie in Gypsy, Judy in A Chorus Line, and Philia in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. She is a proud member of the USO Show Troupe which provides entertainment for veterans and active military all over the world. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

Mickey Rooney, who spent nearly his entire life in the show business, died on Sunday at 93, after being in ill health for quite some time. He appeared on Broadway in Sugar Babies (opposite fellow MGM legend Ann Miller) and The Will Rogers Follies. BroadwayWorld remembers the stage and screen great below.
