Indie film icon John Gallagher will be honored by HeartShare Charities with the Linda Dano Heart Award at their annual spring gala on March 21, 2019 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. The award honors a celebrity who has demonstrated the highest commitment to the betterment of the lives of at-risk populations, particularly those with intellectual/ developmental disabilities and/or children and youth. Founded in 1914, HeartShare is a leading charity with diverse social and medical programs.

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, continues the festivities for John Harbison's 80th year with a matinee concert dedicated to the distinguished Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer. Led by Artistic Director and Conductor Gil Rose, BMOP celebrates Harbison in a program featuring Harbison's Remembering Gatsby (Foxtrot for Orchestra), Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, and celebrated soprano soloist Dawn Upshaw singing his Milosz Songs and his Symphony No. 6.

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh's home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre's 45th season of new works. This line-up of plays is the first curated by Artistic Director Marc Masterson upon his return to City Theatre in 2018.

Amazon Prime Video will bring Armageddon to Austin, celebrating the highly anticipated premiere of novel-turned-series Good Omens at South by Southwest (“SXSW”) in Austin, TX, during opening weekend beginning Friday, March 8th.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet's bold vision - top global choreographers, distinctive groundbreaking repertoire, and virtuoso dancers - has fostered a jewel of a dance company in the American West.  Now, ASFB celebrates the fourth year of its residency at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) with a program of works that celebrates the company's commitment to creating new contemporary dance on Saturday, January 19 at 8:00pm. In the spirit of celebrating 35 years of cutting-edge performances, Undermain establishes its Repertoire Series to honor the gems of its production history, with a reboot of An Iliad, a landmark production from 2012 starring Bruce DuBose and Paul Semrad, directed by Undermain Artistic Director Katherine Owens. An Iliad is a modern-day retelling of Homer's classic. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller-possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps. This fall, the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College launches a partnership with North America's preeminent Shakespeare company, the Stratford Festival, involving the US premiere of historic and critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare's Coriolanus, directed by genre-defying theatermaker Robert Lepage.

The Public Theater announced the full line-up today for the 15th annualUNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL, running January 3-13, 2019. Under the leadership of "one of the most influential voices in choral music in the U.S. today" (Broadway World), Music Director Craig Hella Johnson, Cincinnati's Vocal Arts Ensemble (VAE) returns for its 39th season. This will be the VAE's second season at its home at the recently revitalized Memorial Hall in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

The Eighth Annual Bickford Benefit Concert featuring an all-star ensemble of outstanding jazz artists from the Tri-State area comes to the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum for one night only on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:30 PM. The ensemble includes trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg, cornetist Warren Vache, trombonist Mariel Bildsten, clarinetist Dan Levinson, pianist Rossano Sportiello, guitarist/vocalist Molly Ryan, bassist Rob Adkins, and drummer Mark McLean.  All of the ticket sales from this concert will go to support programming at the Bickford Theatre.

A fixture on the New York scene for 40 years as a director, writer, producer, author, historian and educator, with a wide range of international filmmaking resources and relationships, and a highly regarded, encyclopedic knowledge of films and filmmaking, his track record is especially strong in discovering and mentoring new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

Get ready to blast off as Rubicon Theatre Company presents the hilarious, out-of-this-world musical RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET, returning to Ventura after its acclaimed run in 2016. Winner of the Olivier Award for Best Musical, this fabulously campy send-up of "Forbidden Planet" and other sci-fi films and TV shows of the 1950s and 1960's melds plot elements from The Tempestwith language from multiple plays by Shakespeare. Set on a spaceship sometime in the future, the show features a galaxy of rock-and-roll classics, including "Wipeout," "Good Vibrations," "Great Balls of Fire," "All Shook Up, and "Monster Mash." The jukebox musical spoof rockets into orbit just in time for Halloween - with a gala costume party on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. followed by an after-party at Rhumb Line on the Harbor. Low-priced previews are October 17-19. The show runs Wednesdays through Sundays through November 4.

After an absence of five years and under the auspices of the Cherry Orchard Festival, Israel's acclaimed Gesher Theatre returns to New York in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel. On Today, October 2, just prior to the performances, Gesher Artistic Director Yevgeny Arye and company members invite the public to join them for a free screening on the making of Dibukim, a 60-minute film by Ram Loevy, winner of the honorable mention at the Haifa International Film Festival, which documents the production process of The Dybbuk and follows the creative team and actors during rehearsals. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute question and answer session with Yevgeny Arye and members of the company. This film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. More info & trailer.

This year's festival promises to be a very exciting and wildly varied one, featuring five World Premiere screenings and one U.S. Premiere screening, as well as Special Presentations such as CABIN BOY with Chris Elliott in attendance and Barbara Loden's feminist masterpiece WANDA presented by Amy Seimetz (Showtime's “The Girlfriend Experience”), as well as a retrospective of the recent films of filmmaker Hong Sangsoo.
