Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents their popular Writer-Producer Speed Date on Sunday, March 4, 2018. In deference to Oscar night, the event will start one hour earlier than usual: from 4:30pm - 8:00pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 11th floor.

This winter 2018, the talent performing at New Hope's RRazz Room at The Clarion is a diverse mix of world class artists. From Las Vegas Entertainer Of The Year and Grammy Nominee Clint Holmes, the always hilarious Judy Gold, Tony Nominated Broadway Star & American Idol Finalist Constantine Maroulis, TV's Carson Kressley along with Dance Music Artist Kristine W, and show business royalty Marty Allen (Celebrating His 96th Birthday), there is something for all entertainment tastes at the intimate and comfortable Rrazz Room New Hope, located within the newly refurbished Clarion Hotel & Suites. There is nothing quite like the connection between the performers and their audience in an up close and personal cabaret setting. 

Gabrielle Stravelli and Billy Stritch are delighted to make their first appearance together at The RRazz Room New Hope in 'Down For Double'. The pair met at the BirdlandJazz Club Cast Party in 2012 and have since collaborated on two shows at the 92nd Street Y, headlined a concert with the Santa Rosa Symphony and spent many spontaneous Monday evenings making music together in the 'jazz capital of the world'. For 'Down for Double' Stravelli and Stritch have mined the Great American Songbook for beloved classics like 'I Wish I Were in Love Again' and 'Goody Goody' and more than a few lesser-known gems. The show features the pair's seamless vocal blend, tight harmonies, scat singing and playful banter and promises to be an unforgettable musical evening.

If you notice more smiling faces "downcity" this week, chances are you've spotted audience members fresh from a showing of ON YOUR FEET! at the Providence Performing Arts Center. This fun, thoroughly enjoyable production stylishly recounts the behind-the-music story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan as told through the legendary songbook they created with the Miami Sound Machine.

A Chronicle of the Madness of Small Worlds, a pairing of two hilariously profound monologues from legendary playwright Mac Wellman's story collection, adapted and directed by Elena Araoz, has extended its run Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop through Sunday, February 11. Under the direction of conductor Anton Armstrong, the St. Olaf Choir kicks off an 11-city tour on January 31, 2018 at Seattle's Benaroya Hall. For more than a century the world-renowned St. Olaf Choir has set a gold standard for choral singing and for this tour the ensemble's 75 singers present an eclectic program of sacred and secular choral masterpieces that range from Baroque classics to American folk songs, world music, hymns, and spirituals.

Performance Space New York (formerly Performance Space 122) presents the East Village Series, its first semi-annual themed series, and the first program curated by the institution's new Executive Artistic Director, Jenny Schlenzka. This presentation of works from some of today's most radical performers and multidisciplinary artists resituates the institution in newly revamped spaces, designed by Deborah Berke Partners, in 122 Community Center (150 First Avenue, at East 9th Street), where Performance Space 122 was founded, and where it operated until it moved out in 2011 for the building renovation. The series contemplates the past, present, and future of the organization and its neighborhood.

On Friday, February 16, 2018, 16 of the best young American and Canadian opera singers will perform with pianist Craig Rutenberg before a panel of judges and an enthusiastic audience at The Morgan Library & Museum. At the event's conclusion, six of them will be named this year's winners of the George London Award, an honor that has been conferred upon hundreds of the best young singers since 1971. The award, currently a $10,000 prize, is named for the legendary Canadian-American bass-baritone, one of the greatest opera singers of 20th century.
