Julius, Adolph, Herbie, Leo, and Milton - names that are not at all familiar in the American comedic lexicon.  However, almost any mention of Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo, Chico, and Gummo will immediately elicit nods of recognition, and in most cases happy smiles.   Broward Stage Door Theatre will present the musical Minnie's Boys - the tale of how the sons of Minnie Marx became The Marx Brothers - one of the most beloved and respected comedy acts in history.  Minnie's Boys will open on June 30th and run through August 6th in Stage Door's Theatre 2. BWW Interview: Stephen Mark Lukas: Chemistry?...Yeah, Chemistry!

'There's this line in the show that I think is key to understanding Sky and Sarah's romance. 'Chemistry?' she asks, and he says, 'Yeah, chemistry.' The message is that when that connection between two people happens, it doesn't really matter what you've predicted for yourself. What's real is the chemistry, not the intellectual idea. Sky Masterson and Sarah Brown each have qualities the other is lacking, and together they fill in the gaps.' The speaker is the charismatic young actor, Stephen Mark Lukas, who will be making his Maine State Music Theatre debut in his first ever performances as the suave gambler Sky Masterson in Frank Loesser Guys and Dolls, which runs at the Pickard Theater from June 28-July 15. Barrington Stage Company (recently voted Best of The Berkshires) set a new record at the opening night of Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY last night. There appeared to be more selfie photos attempted of Aaron Tveit the show's star and cast leaving the Stage Door of the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage than happen by the ever present throngs in Broadway's Shubert Alley a show. Aaron, who was Bobby in the extraordinary production directed by BSC's founder and artistic director Julianne Boyd, was mobbed by  what seemed like the entire audience asTveit and the cast tried exit the Stage Door and continue on to the after party at the home of BSC Chair, Minky and Bruno Quinson.  (more...)
