Lineup Announced for the 86th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade

2017 marks the historic 86th Anniversary of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, an American tradition. The parade is produced by Associated Television International and presented in association with The City of Los Angeles. The annual live parade is held in the streets of Hollywood attracting more than one million people. During the Red Carpet Arrivals Event at this year's live parade on Sunday, November 26th Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell will present this year's Parade Grand Marshal Dr. Oz with a Certificate of Recognition from The City of Los Angeles for his career accomplishments. Charles M. Schulz's A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Thursday, November 23, at 7:00pm. In keeping with the theatre's opening night pay-what-you-can tradition, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 6:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation. As an Black Friday bonus, pay-what-you-can tickets will also be available for the 8:00pm performance on Friday, November 24, beginning at 7:30pm that evening. (more...)

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Lorna Luft collapsed backstage last week after a concert at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in London. The singer, who was having trouble remembering both lyrics and monologues was rushed to the hospital where she has been 'initially diagnosed with a brain tumor' according to her spokesperson, Victoria Varela. He will be based in the Los Angeles offices handling touring show general management, marketing and operations for the company. He joins Right Angle Entertainment with a long history of working with Broadway and the road's biggest producers and productions including Disney Theatrical Productions, Really Useful Group and Blue Man Productions. Additionally, John Poland and Elissa E. Szieff have joined the executive team as Director of Touring, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively. Poland will be in charge of tour coordination and Szieff will handle all company business management and accounting. Carla Marie Rugg continues on as Associate Producer, and Cliff Kellas remains in his role as General Manager. (more...)

???????MEGABYTES! THE MUSICAL is an original musical revue written and directed by Morris Bobrow. The show takes a humorous look at how we navigate technology in our lives. It's about the frustrations, anxieties, annoyances…and occasional joys we encounter as we all struggle to cope with the quotidian challenges created by technology. The point of view of the show is that of the average person using tech devices, not that of a "techie". The comedy arises from the situations, positive and negative, the majority of us encounter in working with these so-called "user-friendly" technological tools. This revue format is a series of 20 plus observational songs and sketches, each depicting its own joy and frustration of living our lives in the modern technological age - with varying results.  (more...)

BWW Review: CoPlayers Theatre Hits One Out of the Park With YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

Filled to overflowing with youthful energy and plenty of showbiz razzle-dazzle, CoPlayers Theatre's production of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown - directed and choreographed by the peripatetic Tosha Pendergrast, easily the busiest musical theater choreographer in Middle Tennessee - does what so many other renditions of the show have failed to do over the years: Thoroughly entertain me! And, in so doing, Pendergrast and her ensemble of impressive young actors have erased from my preferred Charlie Brown vocabulary such words as boring, vapid and stultifying, instead replacing them with electrifying, engaging and fun (which normally should be written in all caps and followed by a surfeit of exclamation marks)!
