Showboat - 1966 - Broadway

Based on the novel Show Boat by Edna Ferber.

An epic musical revealing life behind the scenes on a show boat. Magnolia falls in love with Gaylord, a river gambler, and leaves her father’s show boat to marry him in the 1880s. Years of heartbreak return her to the show boat in the 1920s.

What a year 2020 has been for the theatre community. At this time of year, we are usually celebrating the previous season and anxiously awaiting the first productions of a new season. Like so many theatre companies, Iowa Stage started the year of 2020 off strong with the debut of Robert John Forda??s latest musical a?oeAdore Us! Line.a?? As they were getting ready to start performances of a?oeThe Cake,a?? by Bekah Brunstetter, Iowa Stage found themselves having to postpone the show. What no one realized at the time, was the time it would take to be able to perform live again. Now Iowa Stage is looking at how to start providing theatrical opportunities to the community.

Pacific Opera Project (POP) presents a watch party of their critically acclaimed production of Madama Butterfly on July 15 at 5:00 PM Los Angeles time. This is the first true-to-story bilingual production of the opera. BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Broadway veteran Rebecca Luker has passed away. Last year, Rebecca was diagnosed out of nowhere with ALS, a fatal neurodegenerative disease closely related to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. She was 59 years old.
