The 71st Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 11th at 8/9c hosted by Kevin Spacey. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

On the heels of a thrilling performance by Phantom star DAVIS GAINES, the 2017 Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Concert Series at Rubicon Theatre Company continues with a concert starring Emmy Award-winner and multiple-Tony nominee NANCY DUSSAULT in MY LIFE…UPON THE WICKED STAGE. Perhaps best known to audiences as the first host of "Good Morning America," and for her co-starring role on TV on "Too Close for Comfort," Dussault's remarkable career began on the stage. Her concert includes anecdotes about Dussault's remarkable career and songs by many of her favorite composers, such as Richard Rodgers, Jule Styne, Burton Lane and Stephen Sondheim. Dussault's extraordinary musicality and comedic storytelling infuse new meaning into beloved classics such as "Getting Married Today," "Look to the Rainbow," "Old Friend" and her iconic "Make Someone Happy." Nancy is joined by Musical Director Christopher Marlowe and Director Valentine Mayer. NANCY DUSSAULT: MY LIFE…UPON THE WICKED STAGE comes to Ventura for three-performances-only: Saturday, May 20 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m.

Here they go again! Additional casting has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, Friday, July 28, at 8 PM, Saturday, July 29, at 8 PM and Sunday, July 30, at 7:30 PM. The new cast members are Corbin Bleu as Sky, Dove Cameron as Sophie, Lea DeLaria as Rosie, and Jennifer Nettles as Donna. The production also stars previously announced Jamie Camil as Sam.

Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, Teen Choice nominee, Imagen Award winner and Broadway actor Jaime Camil, of CW's Jane the Virgin, has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, the 2001 international phenomenon which will be this summer's annual staged musical at the Bowl. Camil will play the role of Sam Carmichael.

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). The production will be conducted and directed by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature Kelli O'Hara (Contrary Mary), Bill Irwin (Master Toymaker), Christopher Fitzgerald (Alan), Lauren Worsham (Jane), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Tom Tom), Jonathan Freeman (Uncle Barnaby), Chris Sullivan (Gonzorgo), Jeffrey Schecter (Roderigo), Michael Kostroff (Chief Inspector Marmaduke), and Blair Brown (The Narrator), with the 130 singers of MasterVoices and Orchestra of St. Luke's. The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour will play the National Theatre, where the original touring production made its Washington-area premiere 20 years ago, for one week only, June 20 through 25, 2017.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) is proud to present 'A Night At The Copa Starring Donny Most' on Sunday, May 7 at 7 p.m. Donny Most and his big blazing band perform the music of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin along with the great American standards that have a jazz feel, such as songs from Dean Martin and Nat King Cole. Donny Most also mixes in lively tunes from the '30s, '40s and the Louis Prima jump 'n' jive genre. 

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas today announced complete details for Festival 2017, which will begin on June 3 and continues for three weeks through June 24 in New Haven, Connecticut.

When an actor starts out on their journey to stardom, they are bound to hear the same advice from a multitude of concerned friends and relatives: theatre is a cut-throat business, and nothing is set in stone. However, when these well-meaning people give this warning, they are more than likely referring to the worlds of New York City and Hollywood, the promised lands for actors and theatre-goers alike. They are not thinking of community theatre, which in some ways can be equally as vastly competitive and filled with it's own kind of drama. It can be just as difficult to make a mark on your hometown theatre scene than it is on the streets of Broadway, especially when you are surrounded by a wealth of local talent. It could be easy for Oyster Mill Playhouse in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania to fall victim to the curse of community obscurity, but they have proven to have done just the opposite, especially with their production of THE SPITFIRE GRILL.

On Friday, March 10 at 7:30 PM, Schimmel Center will continue its American Showstoppers series. This time orchestrator and conductor Fred Barton leads his 14-piece orchestra and cast of Broadway singers and dancers in a tribute to one of the most prolific song writing duos of the 20th century, John Kander and Fred Ebb.

For anyone who has ever loved the character of Peter Pan, reading PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is probably quite a fun experience. For someone like me, who has never been particularly fond of this character, reading PETER AND THE STARCATCHER was difficult. I sort of got where they were going, but I definitely didn't get all in the ins and outs of the story. It's sort of like reading HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, before reading HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE. You get the idea, but you're just a bit lost in the magic of it all.

The only American ever invited to join Australia's The TEN Tenors, Chad Hilligus makes his McCallum Theatre solo debut on Friday, January 20, at 8:00pm. 'An Evening with Chad Hilligus' features a powerful program highlighting his international career with charming stories and standards from Bocelli to Bennett to Broadway. Chad will be joined by Musical Director Christopher Marlowe, along with international soprano Lauren Jelencovich and other featured guests. 

On the heels of the national tour of Lincoln Center's Tony Award-winning Broadway revival sweeping the country now, educators and students will be whistling a happy tune when R&H Theatricals, a division of Rodgers & Hammerstein, an Imagem Company, releases Getting To Know... The King and I; it was announced today by Rodgers & Hammerstein president Ted Chapin and iTheatrics founder and CEO Timothy Allen McDonald.

Richard Move/MoveOpolis! returns to New York Live Arts as the opening performance of Live Ideas 2017 with the world premiere of XXYY, a multilayered work conceived and directed by Move, with costumes by acclaimed theater artist Alba Clemente and an original score by Italian electronic music pioneer Martux_m. The program will also feature Martha@... 20, a special performance marking the 20th anniversary of Move's highly acclaimed performances as Martha Graham in the Martha@... series. Waterwell announced today the revival of the Blueprint Specials, a series of lost WWII-era musicals composed principally by Broadway legend Frank Loesser to be presented in association with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival. The production will star Tony Award nominees Laura Osnes (Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde) and Will Swenson (Hair) and be directed by Drama Desk nominee Tom Ridgely.
