Martin Luther King, Jr. declared 'I've been to the mountaintop' almost exactly 50 years ago on April 3, 1968. His words, a confident assessment on the future of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, echo with the same power as when he bellowed them all those years ago. Dr. King never made it to the promised land, having been assassinated only one day after his 'Mountaintop' speech. His spirit, however, lives on beautifully in Katori Hall's play The Mountaintop at George Mason University's Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 14 as part of Los Angeles Theatre Works's 38-city touring production.

Semyon Bychkov will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct two weeks of programs, including the 50th anniversary of a Philharmonic commission, artist debuts, and symphonic cornerstones. A new song is out called "We Sing for Martin Luther King," featuring acclaimed musicians Liz Queler on lead vocals, Seth Farber on piano, organ, vocals, and Joey Farber on guitar, bass, and drums, based on lyrics and music written by poet and writer Holly Peppe in 1968. As the date of April 4 th, 2018 marks the 50 th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s passing, Dr. King's inspiring work and dream of peace, unity, social equality and justice continue to remain as important as ever in the struggles facing our nation today.

Sancho makes his mark in history by becoming the first British-African to cast a vote in England in 1774.

YES, one of the biggest bands in prog rock history and true pioneers of the genre, today (March 26) revealed the dates and details for this summer's 50th Anniversary North American tour titled #YES50: Celebrating 50 Years of YES. A paragon of classical music, famed pianist Maurizio Pollini will perform in recital at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m., marking the 50th anniversary year of his Carnegie Hall debut. She is spinning out of control emotionally, smoking, drinking, and popping pills as she attempts to cope with the idea that the one man she has counted on since the death of her husband will soon leave her too, again due to a madman with a gun.
