Events of this residency range from a TCU Community Leaders Workshop to a multimedia dance performance, concluding with a Community Town Hall Meeting. Ensemble Connect Embarks On 12th Season With Eighteen New Musicians

Ensemble Connect embarks on its 12th season with a new group of young professional classical musicians joining the fellowship program from around the world. Following a rigorous audition process, 18 fellows were selected from across the United States and also from Israel, Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Hungary, and Korea. The fellows will perform 12 concerts in the New York City area this season at venues including Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, Paul Hall at The Juilliard School, Our Saviour's Atonement Lutheran Church and the Jackson Heights Branch Library as part of Carnegie Hall Citywide, and in Saratoga Springs, NY as part of Ensemble Connect's continuing biannual residency at Skidmore College. Chicago Opera Theater (COT) will kick off the 2018/2019 season with "Iolanta," a Chicago premiere of legendary composer P.I. Tchaikovsky's final opera. Internationally renowned and award-winning conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya will make her conducting debut as Chicago Opera Theater's Staley Music Director and set the tone for the season to come. Acclaimed stage director Paul Curran, known for his work at Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago and more, will shape the retelling of this joyous love-story, featuring an almost entirely Chicago-based cast including soprano Katherine Weber as Iolanta, and renowned Russian bass Mikhail Svetlov as Rene. Saratoga Performing Arts Center announced that it will once again present Orchestra of St. Luke's performing Bach's beloved Brandenburg Concertos at Bethesda Episcopal Church in downtown Saratoga Springs on Saturday, December 15 at 7 p.m. The evening will pay special tribute to classical music management visionary and the founder of IMG Artists, Charles Hamlen, who passed away on August 1, 2018 following a long battle with leukemia. SPAC Strikes Deal to Broadcast Philadelphia Orchestra Concerts

As part of Saratoga Performing Arts Center's expanding artistic collaboration with The Philadelphia Orchestra, it announced a new partnership with public radio stations WMHT in upstate New York and WRTI in Philadelphia to record and broadcast four Philadelphia Orchestra concerts in Saratoga this summer. This new series is part of a reciprocal agreement between WRTI and WMHT and marks the first time in the Orchestra's storied 52-year residency that SPAC concerts have held a dedicated broadcast slot on WMHT and the first time that Saratoga performances have aired on WRTI in Philadelphia. The live performances slated for August 8, 10, 15 and 17 will be conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, music director of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and will feature soloists Janai Brugger, the Jussen 'Piano Brothers,' Jennifer Koh, Serhiy Salov and Joshua Bell. Montalvo Arts Center will present a rollicking evening of Ireland and Scotland's hottest new musicians performing a blend of old and new music as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Twice winners of Scotland's Traditional Music 'Live Act of the Year' Award (2016 & 2011), Skerryvore has been on a meteoric journey that has taken them from the remote Isle of Tiree on to international tours that have included performances in New York's Central Park and the Shanghai Expo in China. Their sound is a thrilling fusion of folk, trad, rock, and pop, steeped in the vibrant personalities and upbringing of the eight band members.
