The 71st Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 11th at 8/9c hosted by Kevin Spacey. On Saturday, May 27th Rooftop Films will present the U.S. Premiere of Vanessa Stockley's The Genius and the Opera Singer, a nonfiction portrait of an embattled mother-daughter duo (92 and 55-years-old, respectively) living together in a rent-controlled West Village apartment. Set against the backdrop of a changing neighborhood, Stockley captures the pair's volatile relationship with unfettered access and intimacy. Think Grey Gardens, but replace the Old Society with Old New York.

Pittsburgh CLO has announced the cast of the Pittsburgh premiere of Off-Broadway sensation, MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE TO DATING, MATING, & MARRIAGE, May 11-August 13 at the CLO Cabaret.

The Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn announced today the series Making Rent in Bed-Stuy , programmed by critic, filmmaker, and programmer Brandon Harris and running from June 12th through 21st.  

Here they go again! Additional casting has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, Friday, July 28, at 8 PM, Saturday, July 29, at 8 PM and Sunday, July 30, at 7:30 PM. The new cast members are Corbin Bleu as Sky, Dove Cameron as Sophie, Lea DeLaria as Rosie, and Jennifer Nettles as Donna. The production also stars previously announced Jamie Camil as Sam.

Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, Teen Choice nominee, Imagen Award winner and Broadway actor Jaime Camil, of CW's Jane the Virgin, has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, the 2001 international phenomenon which will be this summer's annual staged musical at the Bowl. Camil will play the role of Sam Carmichael.

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's founding artistic director Fred Anzevino today announced the company's lineup for the 2017-18 season, its last in its Rogers Park venue, the No Exit Café. The company will move into a new home in Evanston for the 2018-19 season. Their '17-'18 season will open in September with William Finn and James Lapine's 1998 off-Broadway hit, A New Brain. The musical, which was inspired by a real-life medical crisis Finn experienced, concerns a songwriter who while in a coma and awaiting life-threatening brain surgery, hallucinates about the songs he has yet to write and the people in his life. Its score includes some of Finn's most romantic, humorous and joyous songs, such as “I'd Rather Be Sailing,” “The Music Still Plays On” and “I Feel So Much Spring.” A New Brain will be directed by Anzevino, with music direction by Jeremy Ramey and choreography by Cameron Turner. It will run from September 15  through October 29.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director; David McCoy, Chairman of the Board), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, as part of its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present staged readings of three new musicals.

George Street Playhouse has announced full casting for Curvy Widow, starring Broadway's Nancy Opel (GSP's The Toxic Avenger, Broadway's Honeymoon in Vegas). The sassy musical comedy will not only close out GSP's 2016-17 season, but also mark the final show performed in the Playhouse's current building. Curvy Widow runs May 2-21, 2017, with opening night scheduled for May 5th, 2017.
