The Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA) is honored to announce that the Leni Fe Bland Trust has made a $1 million grant to the SBCPA endowment. Abrons Arts Center presents Colin Gee and Angie Smalis in Chaplet of Roses and They Go Out in Joy, two works developed from fragments of the past. In the case of Chaplet of Roses, it is a 15th-century tapestry; in They Go Out in Joy, it is a collection of photos of Irish emigrants. The performance is part of Abrons' Travelogues dance series, curated by Laurie Uprichard. The Orion Ensemble, winner of the prestigious Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, concludes its 2015-16 season with 'Musical Enchantments,' welcoming back guest violinist Mathias Tacke, former second violinist of the Vermeer Quartet, and violist Stephen Boe. Performances take place May 29 at First Baptist Church of Geneva March 13; June 1 at the PianoForte Studios in downtown Chicago; and June 5 at the Music Institute of Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston.

Main Street Theater (MST) continues its 40th Anniversary Season with the world premiere of 1946 by Houston playwright Thomas Hagemann. Main Street produced the world premiere of Mr. Hagemann's Breakfast at Eight in 2010 as well as the staged reading of 1946 in 2014.

Among the 17 recipients of the 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom are Broadway legends Stephen Sondheim and Barbra Streisand, as well as pop star and ON YOUR FEET! creator Gloria Estefan. President Barack Obama named this year's honoreees last week, and the awards will be presented at the White House today, November 24th.
