GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS will release the 2019 Broadway Cast Recording for Cole Porter's musical comedy Kiss Me, Kate. The album will be released for digital download and streaming on Friday, June 7. The CD release is planned for later this year.

Overture Center for the Arts announced today that two Jerry Award 'Outstanding Leading Performance' recipients performed and were selected to advance to The Jimmy Awards, also known as the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA), held in New York City. They will also be part of the Jerry Awards showcase at Overture Center on Sunday, June 9. Tickets are available now at overture.org/events/2019-jerry-awards.

A kitschy yet cerebral, retro mash-up film titled The History of Everything Circa 1993 to the Present: Formerly Known as Kissy Cousins, Monster Babies and Morphing Elvis, directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Wayne J. Keeley and co-produced by his wife, Emmy-nominated Stephanie C. Ghostlight Records has announced it will record a new cast album of Cole Porter's musical comedy Kiss Me, Kate, based on the current hit production from the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO). The show is directed by Scott Ellis, choreographed by Warren Carlyle with music direction by Paul Gemignani and features a book by Sam and Bella Spewack, and music and lyrics by Cole Porter. Kiss Me, Kate marks the 24th cast album recording for Roundabout Theatre Company, since launching the musical theatre program with She Loves Me in 1993. The album, produced by Kurt Deutsch and Lawrence Manchester, will be recorded Monday, April 22.

Tony Award-Winner BEN PLATT will host the eleventh annual JIMMY AWARDS ceremony on Monday, June 24th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan. This marks his second time in the role. He first hosted the ceremony in 2017, the same year that he won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance in Dear Evan Hansen.

A capacity crowd of 400 people attended the Black-Tie GALA. Presented by Author Services, Inc. and Galaxy Press, the theme for the two-hour awards show was Retro Robotics.

Summer 1993 was an eventful year for this reviewer. I had just graduated from High School and was preparing for the next chapter in my life - college in Athens, Georgia. Like so many young people before me and so many after, it was a time in between, one that was both thrilling and completely terrifying. But it was also the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and an opportunity to redefine who I was and who I would be as a newly minted adult. So, it was particularly poignant to see the newest production from TheaterWorks (performed at the Wadsworth due to their current remodel), the musical GIRLFRIEND, with a book by Todd Almond and music by 90's rocker, Matthew Sweet.

The Philly POPS and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will present the School District of Philadelphia's All-City Jazz Festival. The day of free jazz performances by student and professional musicians will be held in the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater and Commonwealth Plaza on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from noon 9 p.m. This will be the POPS's fifth year presenting this event and the third year in partnership with the Kimmel Center.
