Ted Sperling will close the Lyrics & Lyricists 50th anniversary season with “Isn’t It Bliss?” Sondheim on Love on June 18, 19 and 20. With Isn’t It Bliss? Ted explores Sondheim’s perspective on relationships.

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for Follies by James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim. The musical will run on the San Francisco Playhouse Mainstage from June 30 through September 10, 2022. Bill English will direct, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer. This marks the first fully staged professional production of Follies in San Francisco.

Fresh off of their sold-out Sin City Nights Las Vegas residency, Scorpions will kick off a two month-long Live Nation produced run of dates beginning in August, including UBS Arena at Belmont Park on September 7. In addition to Whitesnake, Swedish band Thundermother will be joining the tour. 

The Sugar Ridge Rag, a play by Philip Middleton Williams, premiered at LAB Theater Project in Tampa’s Historic Ybor City on April 28, 2022. The story is a complex, yet simplistic study of the life of an average family in rural Ohio, and what lies at the depths of family values and the definition of true love. From the synopsis found on the Playbill; Pete and Dave Granger, age 17, are twin brothers in rural northwest Ohio in 1970. Dave enlists in the Army; Pete goes to Canada to pursue his career in music. Over the next five years, their lives are changed by the Vietnam War and the choices they made. Deb and Hal, their parents, are left to deal with the consequences of their actions and their future as a family.

The Juilliard School will hold its 117th commencement ceremony on May 20, 2022, at 10:30am. The ceremony will be held outdoors on the Lincoln Center campus in Damrosch Park, presided over by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel. Donn B. Murphy, PhD, former president and executive director of the National Theatre in Washington, DC for 35 years, and Georgetown University Professor Emeritus, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL on April 3, announced his spouse and life partner of 49 years, US Army Col. H. Jones 'Jon' Carrow, Ret.
