Emmie is one of the only black people living in Paris, Vermont, and she desperately needs a job. When she is hired at Berry's, a store off the interstate selling everything from baby carrots to lawnmowers, she begins to understand a new kind of isolation. A play about invisibility, being underpaid, and how it feels to work on your feet for ten hours a day. Paris is the off-Broadway playwriting debut of acclaimed actor Eboni Booth (Dance Nation), directed by Knud Adams (Marie and Bruce).

Shreveport, Louisiana's Seratones - fronted by the gospel-trained powerhouse frontwoman A.J. Haynes - will release their sophomore album POWER next month, and today they share an incredibly moving music video for the album's title track. The Danielle Calodney-directed video highlights A.J.'s work as an equality and reproductive rights activist, as well as her work as a counselor at one of Louisiana's last abortion clinics, and is dedicated to the late Sadie Roberts-Joseph. Filmed throughout three important, women-founded locations in Shreveport - the Calanthean Temple, which was a Black cultural hub during the Jim Crow-era; Hope Medical Group abortion clinic, where A.J. is a counselor; and The Confederate monument - “Power” is Seratones' way of celebrating how far we have come, despite all the work there is left to do.

Langree has held the position since 2003, fostering the Festival Orchestra's profile as an established ensemble and steadfast presence on the Lincoln Center campus, furthering its scope of repertoire beyond music of the classical era, and heightening its reputation as one of America's premier chamber orchestras.
